Help with installing stereo in a Mazda 626 LX

Me and a buddy are going crazy trying to get this working so im coming to you guys for some helpful advice.

Right now we have the harness Wired in with an alpine cd player. Everything is good with it powering up but we are not getting any sound. After some searching and trouble shooting i discovered that this car might have a factory amp installed so i attempted to bypass that tonight by running new wires from the stereo straight to the speakers and still nothing.

Am i missing something obvious or is there a fix for this?

Ill reiterate the situation.

Tonight i took out all the wiring from the harness except for the 2 12 v's and the ground. Then i took 2 new long speakers wires and ran them to the most accessible speakers, the 2 rear's. Then i hooked these speakers directly to the radio to bypass the amp but still no luck.

Probably the internal amp to the radio is blow....is this a new radio or used?

Or like the guy said, internal amp could be turned off on the radio.
