Help with Engine Whine - Just Installed Front Components

Oh, my bad then. I've also tried Stinger ones, not sure if they are shielded or not though...

The RCA's go about 2 feet from the LOC to the amp which is on the other side of the trunk from the battery and power runs.

Can RCA's still pick up interference more than a foot away?

The nice ones, yes shielded, even has the REM wire in the middle, that I don't use.

The middle wire is really a grounding wire and not a REM wire.

Just tried running a dedicated ground from the - terminal to the chassis of the HU. No dice.

Is it possible that this is an amp problem? I've never heard of an amp being the reason for whine but I have no idea what else it would be.

It's grounded directly to the rear battery which is grounded directly to the hood battery with dual 0/1 awg Big 3.

MOTHER OF GOD!

I grounded the amp to the frame in the trunk and the whine went away.

Now someone please explain to me why in the world this happened.
