Help with BTL Recone

alright mang here goes nothing, i got the three folders in the gap, seems pretty straightfoward now i just lay the glue down on both the landing and plop the top assembly down onto it

Put it on the cone before you apply glue..trace a mark around the edge of it once it looks 'center'

Put a piece of tape folded up so you have something to hold on, apply glue to the dust cap and flop it on the cone where your mark is..

yes make sure the tinsels are aligned with the posts. I like to have another person with me doing that so they can apply force to the spider landing while I spray the glue applicator.

yeah i can still pull the 3 layer out of the gap it just takes alot of force

Werd. That's what you want. It doesn't matter what you use as long as it's uniform and doesn't overlap, and use as many sheets/layers as it needs to be snug...

I take a piece of tape, like masking tape... and loop it around my fingers. Then I use it to lower the dustcap into position.

when I glue the surrounds I dont align the surround at all I just plop it down and let it fall naturally, Ive seen alot of recones done that they tried to align the surround to be perfect and about 80% of them I seen have failed prematurally

I reconed a 15" RD Elite SPL last night, I took pics of every stage for a post I was going to do on my team forum. If anyone is interested, i'll post the article on ca.com.

In my recone project, I just used index cards I bought at walmart for $1.23. Three index cards were enough to do one sub, and aftward you have 40 or so cards left to do others with. Alright the glue and Accelerator are set, i was afraid though because i only bought 1oz of CA Glue and i was afraid halfway through gluing the surround landing that i was going to run out halfway through

also i ran into another problem, a side of the surround wasent staying down, like u could push it down onto the glue it wasent staying firmly in place even though the recone was fully down in the motor, so i had to hold it down with my hand while i sprayed some accelerator and it seems good now

also that CA glue REEKS, i was standing right over the recone getting all the whifs of the glue and it was jackin me up for asec till i backed off
