Help with a Kicker amp

I was driving home the other day and my SX1250.1 quit playing for a while so I stopped went around back and the display (remember these are digital amps) was flashing service and overload, when I went into the sickbay menu It was showing the amp temp was 54C or 130F. Ir's only running at two ohms so I wouldn't think it was getting too hot but this was 5 hours into my drive. after I left the system off for a while it worked again.

Oh yeah, when it was giving the problem it was trying to turn on it would make the stereo dim and click.

Any ideas what to check? I'll be contacting Kicker tomorrow to try and get an answer.

sounds like its overheating. hows the amp mounted? install a fan to help cool it?

Hmmm, it's just overheating. You really shouldn't have your amp blasting when taking long road trips IMO. Maybe run a couple of cooling fans would help out your situation. Also, how do you have your amp mounted? Do you have the seat down? Are you riding with the AC on?

The amp does have a built in fan, it's mounted along tie side of the trunk on an angle, I'll get pics in a bit. Seats were up because I was on my way home from a job that was wrapped up and had the inside of the car full of stuff.

I wasn't expecting it to overheat because it's only wired at two ohms (stable to 1) and it wasn't cranked. I was probably a little over half volume at the most with no bass boost( Don't use it).

Looking in the manual there is a list pf problems:normal, thermal,short, hi-voltage, fuse, and service.

It says for service-amp requires service by Kicker. I really hope it doesn't need to go to them.

And I have 1/0 run to the trunk and 4 guage from the distro to each amp. They couldn't get the other end caps on because of the box, which was from another install.
