Help Wiring New Amplifier

Hey so i recently bought a hifonics ZRX 2000.4 amplifier. The description of the amplifier is:

4-Channel Class A/B Zeus Series Car Amplifier

RMS Power Rating:

4 ohms: 250 watts x 4 chan.

2 ohms: 500 watts x 4 chan.

Bridged, 4 ohm: 1000 watts x 2 chan.

Pulse Width Modulated MOSFET power supply

LED power (green) and protect (red) indicators

Variable Bass Boost (0 to +12 dB bass boost at 45 Hz)

Soft start turn-on

4/3/2 channel operation

Preamp RCA outputs to daisy chain multiple amps

3-way protection circuitry (thermal, overload, and speaker short protection)

Heavy duty aluminum alloy heat-sink for heat dissipation

Nickel-plated RCA level inputs

Nickel-plated screw terminals

Variable high-pass filter (60-13000 Hz, 24 dB/octave)

Variable low-pass filter (30-250 Hz, 24 dB/octave)

CEA-2006 compliant amplifier

Frequency response: 10-45000 Hz

I purchased this with the intent to run two dvc 4 ohm subwoofers (Alpine Swr-12D4) with a 1000 wattt rms each. How do i configure the amplifier to do this? (even if you can; i am very worried that i have ordered this and it wont work)

I thought that i would switch the amp into 2 channel mode and wire it like a 2 channel amp bridged at 4 ohms: (like the wiring diagram on sonicelectronix) but page 4 of the manual explains that you cant do this. PLEASE HELP.

-There is a link to the manual of the amplifier: maxxsonics.net/manuals/hifonics/pdfs/HifonicsZeusZRXAmplifierManual.pdf

-I tried to attach photos of the amp so you could see the crossovers but it wouldnt let me.

Thanks

Not possible. You'd need two d2 subs, each with its coils wired in series for a 4 ohm load, on each channel.

Like this? Also When adjusting the controls on the amplifier would i have to set the gain for both channels or is there a way around that. Plus if i wired it that way i would keep the amp in 4 channel mode?

And why wouldn't i be able to use the d4's in 2 channel mode? Plus what would the x overs on the amp need to be set to?

Im sorry but i am fairly new to car audio and dont want to screw anything up.

wiring wizard from rockford fosage, says you can wire dual 4 to be dual 4 to the amp, or 1 ohm.

Yes, that's how you would wire them. You wouldn't want to use the d4's in 2 channel mode because your amp isn't 2 ohm stable in 2 channel mode (bridged). You would want the crossovers set to low pass & you'll probably have to set the gain on the amp for each channel.

I was going to get a monoblock and run it at 1 ohm but i was advised away from that and didnt really have a choice. Plus i am planning on eventually upgrading my speakers in which case i will use this amp to power them and get another amp of nicer quality for the subs when i can afford it.

Thanks for the help that makes sense. I would need to get an RCA splitter that would double the signal into 2 inputs? I know the amp can internally send signal to channels 3/4 if you switch it into 2 channel mode but i cant do that with the way i am wiring it can i?

Once again i appreciate the help.

Who advised you to not get a mono amp??? I can only imagine how big of a power hog this amp is gotta member its a class a/b.. Get a mono block...

Not 100% sure on that, never used those amps. You'll just have to follow your users manual to the best of your ability & try it out.

The way it looks is that you would need two splitters, each single female to 2 male. Use the left side of your sub out for ch1/2, then right for ch3/4, or vice versa. The splitters cost a couple bucks at radioshack.

In the manual on page four it says "A MONO signal source is required to bridge channel pair 3/4. Im not sure if this is correct for what i am trying to do because it is under the section that explains how to configure it as a 2 or 3 channel system. Could you clear this up and once again is it even possible to do this with alpine swr 12d2s?

Its not that i couldnt get a monoblock just the fact that i couldnt wire it at 1 ohm without a dual battery set up which i dont want.
