Glad it sounds better. Does your car have seats that fold down or the ski hole behind the armrest that can open? Can you take out your rear speakers? It sounds like you had a very tightly sealed trunk and the sub has a hard time fighting through the backseat and you probably had more cancellation with the sub in the middle of the trunk facing forward as opposed to it at the back of the seat firing towards the tailights. It will sound even better if you can create an easier way for the sound to get through. Good luck

Hello everyone, I'm new here and to car audio stuff in general. Right now I've got a 15" Alpine in my trunk, and it just doesn't seem like its hitting as hard as it should. I have a 1997 Dodge Intrepid. When you're sitting inside the car, there is an extremely noticable difference in the sound when you have the trunk open compared to having the trunk closed. Is the woofer not getting enough airflow? The box is not sealed, I don't think thats the problem. Any tips?

my brother has a 98 intrepid wo\ the center console - 10" mtx in a ported box.

i just did an install for another 98 with a center console - two 12" pb subs in a ported 2.5 cube box.

your seats DO NOT fold down, and your rear speakers are still in the rear deck. the reason for the bass not getting to you - is beacuse the rear area of the car there where the sound SHOULD pass through is sealed off - and thats that. when the trunk is closed, there is pressure bla bla bla- to be honest, i dont quite know why it gets louder with the windows down, but whatever - maybe the seat acting like an aperodic membrane and increasing SPL :0

but other than cutting some large holes in your rear deck (where your rear speakers are) or fabricating a bracket to fold your rear seats down - i dont think you will be able to change anything. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
