well i hooked up my big 3, but i couldnt get the alt pos to the pos of the battery, it was just such a ***** to get to.

so i tried taking it to my buddies shop, and he said that "it would be pointless to hook up a alt pos to the pos of the batt" so he said i shouldn't even do it.

THEN he claims i should get a cap, and if i have a cap, i wouldn't need a rear batt.

i thought to myself "no.".

cap is a no no. for sure.

so i don't know what to do

then i took it to my local shop @ bico stereo.

they said i should be good with the rear batt that i have.

if anything comes to worse, just get the HO alt from rob.

i'll post up pics of the 2/3 of the big 3 done.

i did the neg bat to the chassis and the engine block to the neg of my batt, and that's all :\

tell me what i should do.

should i get the cap? i know i shouldn't.. i'll get flamed for asking this question, but my friend said cap is the best way to go

i didn't believe him. i'm thinking to just go with what i have now, and if i have insane voltage drops under 12, then i'll go with the ho alt.

i can't finish the big 3. theres no way to get to the alt. want me to take pics? it's gonna be a hugeee bish to get to.

if i get the alt, i looked under my hood, i'd have to take my AC thingy out. and if i do that just to get to my alt, when i'd have to put it back it, i'd have to recharge that h0e, and that shit takes forever :\

 
Find smarter friends. Big3, high output Alt and at least one large deep cycle battery. No cap.
Everyone tells me to get a cap when i tell them how much power i am running i always use to say i need the back battery. Now i learned to just say ok or i will look into it.

Can you get to it from under the car?

It is prob a pain to get under your civic though. Mine was easy

 
thats what i said today. LOL he's like get a cap, so when i left, i was like, hey text me when u find a price on a good cap! and i'll come by and buy it!

im never txting him back..

 
okay, the pos. of the alt, is just such a pain, its inbetween these pipes and the AC box, so that's why it'd be a *****, it's not a ***** because it's so low, but where its located :\

 
A cap is a band-aid. It's usefull for helping to stabilize small current spikes and drops, but not until you've gotten the electrical system into the right ball park. If the alt is too small, the wiring too thin, and the battery capacity too low, it would be like adding a whale tail onto a Yugo. On a ferrarri, yes a whale tail can help at high speeds. It will not help a 92' vovlo station wagon.

Find a mechanic with half a brain to help you get the wire onto the Alt. It's worth the effort.

 
i'll most definitely try to ask a real mechanic to look at it.

so what they said about the "+ of the alt wired to the + of the batt being completely pointless" is a dumbfcuk lie ?
