I recently got a new amp (Cadence ZRS7500d), and after hooking it up, the sub doesn't hit anywhere close to as hard as it did on the previous amp (JL 500/1). It's in the same box, same wires, same sub, but it doesn't like it used to. I've tried maxing the gains, and to get it closer to how it use to sound and excurt like it used to, my HU has to be set to "Loud: On". Any help?

Also, when the HU is set to "rear", it hits harder than when set to "sub"

The wires are hooked up right, because it works.

there's 5 knobs and 2 switches:

Phase Shift: 0/180 (set at 0)

Input Gain: 9V-200mV (3/4 turn)

Bass EQ: 0-12db (set at 11 oclock)

Subsonic: 10-50 (11 oclock)

Bass Focus: 0-7db (11 oclock)

Low Pass: 50-250 (3/4 turn)

Bridged Amplifier Mode: Master, Slave 1, Slave 2 (set to Master)

HU, on "sub", is set to "Sub Level: +4 (max = +8)"

Take it to someone who knows how to set up an amplifier.

Are you sure the subsonic is set right? 11 o clock sound like the subsonic is cutting too much of the lows.

i agree with the above- take it to someone who knows what they're doing on that amp.

DIYer- read the manual if all else fails.

read the manual, didn't help.

took it to the local audio shop, the guy looked at it and maxed the gain. It hit harder, still not as hard, so I hooked the JL back up 'til I can figure out what's wrong with the Cadence or how i had it hooked up.

my deck is a pioneer 3200ub. when i go threw the audio setings there is the eq and when im at the 100hz setings i can go +5 or so and -5 or so .i had it at 0 then i went up to +3 and my subs started to play louder im not saying that is your issue but u dont wana b maxing things out. i did that with my amp well ran it close to max and up to the othere day i was clipping the hell out of it to the point it would turn off after 12-20 min of 48/62 on my deck .

and you wana match your voltage from your deck with your gain knob alot of guys think its a volume knob but its not. keep in mind its easy to run in to some issues with that if u just do it with a dmm. u can go 3/4 on your deck and tone by ear when it comes to seting your gain. when i do that i do it with test tones and some songs . your best bet is to find some one on here that can help you out around town. u should not run things max its not a good idea if u have to run your gain wide open to match the voltage i have seen some guys back down on the gain and put there bass boost on but yea thats not a good idea as well.

I bet you anything these 3:

Bass EQ: 0-12db (set at 11 oclock)

Subsonic: 10-50 (11 oclock)

Bass Focus: 0-7db (11 oclock)

Are set wrong.. and are cutting all your freq. out.. Turn the Subsonic Freq to about slightly above the 10 hz (7 Oclock posit) Once there.. turn your Bass focus to 0 (sounds and looks like 'bass boost' ) then focus on the bass Focus knob.. if set to 0 still is not anything close.. start turning the bass focus up 0-7 see if it makes a difference.. make sure your using the same bass note over and over.. that you know for sure sounds (the way your looking for) on the JL amp..

Other than that.. take it to someone else to help you adjust..

well i called woofersetc. the tech mentioned that some amps require different voltages (?) and that my HU puts out low vots or something (?.. jvc) Also, he recommended a line-out driver (?).. searched for audiocontrol on their site (what he recommended) and got a 2-channel crossover.. he said this would boost the volts my rca's put out (?)

I'm so lost..

RCA's in proper places?

Sounds to me that the RCA's are the suspect due to: "Also, when the HU is set to "rear", it hits harder than when set to "sub""

Also, I've seen all too many people put the RCA's in the "output" of an amp, instead of "input".

Two things to check.

JVC? Bass put up to 8 to reach full v output.. arsenal series were putting out around 5v i think they might have went up since then.. the lower end JVC's put out around 2 v.. I would check to see what its up.. I know I have a JVC and to reach full output V on the HU RCA, bass level has to be at 8... make sure your RCA's are in the right spot too.. see if you have an audio section or something like it somewhere.. see if it has a low pass crossover built in.. mine has Low, (60~70's) Mid (80~100) High (160) i forget where they rest.. but that can greatly affect if they are cutting out to much low freq.. IDK depends on your model..
