Help setting gain?

I will start out by saying that I know how to DMM my amp to set the gain, and I also know that it is best with an O-Scope or DD1, but I don't have either one to my disposal.. I recently added a preamp eq into the equation and was wondering how to set the gain now. I have a feeling with it having more voltage output to my subs I can in fact get louder without the sacrifice of voltage. The specs are as follows just incase any of it is relevant...

HU : Kenwood-X796

EQ : ABEQ - P

Subs : 2 15" D2 Lethal Injections

Amp : AQ3500.1 wired @ 2

Stock Alt

Front Battery : Shuriken BT60

Back Battery : Shuriken BT100

Big 3 done

Works exactly the same way as you would with the HU. HU settings should be all flat going into the preamp including no SLA. Then tune exactly as you would coming straight from the HU.

So none of the knobs on the EQ actually affect voltage going to the amp? It for instance just boosts it from the usual 4v to 7v or whatever it is? (This is my first time actually using an EQ)

Let me ask you this. Why did you add the ABEQ?

honestly I don't know... I knew a guy using it and figured there was a benefit. I'm still learning, but there wasn't any information available. I can tell a difference, but want the most out of my system until I can upgrade alts.

From the specs on AB's site it doesnt offer you much of anything. I would take it out of the chain and sell it.

well like I said, I can tell a difference, just was hoping to find out how to utilize it to its fullest, plus it fits look good in there since I can't fit a double din lol.. thanks for the help dragon.
