i have a 12 inch dc audio xl had it in a box around 2.25 cube but the port was small it was getting somewhat loud but with a db drive pd2000.1 at 1 ohm the sub wasnt as loud as a sa 12 in the same box on 2 ohms from the amp. and every once in a while the sub would cut in and out. Well today got a new box that is 2.25 cube tuned to 32 hrtz and around has more port area and got a ia 20.1 and the sub doesnt get loud at all and still cuts in and out but when i meter the vc's they both read 2 ohm i dont get what the problem is my voltage never drops below 13 volts but i cant figure it out unless the sub has bad coils or somthing. im gettting so frustrated i just want to get rid of it all.

could be a broken tensil lead near one of the coils or coil rub. Try measuring the resistance while SLOWLY moving the sub by hand. If it cuts out or changes drastically, you know you have a coil problem. Don't move the sub quickly or it will make voltage and give a false reading. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

power or ground wire might be burned out. happened to me. i had an american bass 75.1 and upgraded to a rockford fosgate t1500-1bd and since i added power, it needed more current through the wire. i found the spot where the wire was burnt (it was literally ash) and i replaced it and it worked good as new.

Pretty sure its the coil in the sub recone that bish to a d1 and get that ia to putting in work. I have the same issue right now all coils read perfect but when wired up and start playing I have one sub that I start smelling coil in and my amps will jump protect one subs dustcap is decently warm I am pretty sure its my issue.

Did you try what I said? It takes 30 seconds and would answer a lot of questions. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the db drive amp dose put out more wattage 1st off. you have a bad lead wire where the coil meets the leads i bet...
this

and thanks for supporting db drive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

WTF is this supposed to mean? How much power his amp is putting out doesn't have anything to do with a broken tinsel or bad coil. Obviously if he would've tested the resistance as I pointed out in the first post, this issue would've been solved long ago. 2nd: You say your amps never get warm. BS. There is no way you can use an amp and not have it get warm to the touch, if you actually turn it up or use it more than 20 minutes or so. Let alone "ice cold".
