it was connected to my APSM 1500 using 2 of the aluminum inputs from toolmaker

Over current, bad connection, cheap wire

its KNU flex 4 ga. thought that was pretty reliable.

if it is over current. should i just upgrade my fuse??? and lastly could it be a bad ground?

No you cant. If you use larger then a 150 amp the cable could catch fire. With that amp I would use 1/0 and it could be a bad ground. Make sure the gain is set right
