Help on what to buy

clarion is good.. also look into eclipse, pioneer, kenwood & alpine.. try to listen to as many as you can and compare their options.. remember your deck is the brains of your system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

depends but it will work -- i can recommend a couple different subs . i would pick up a viper 1200.1 amp from either ebay or http://www.ikesound.com they are refurb models but they work extremely well + they are around $200. possibly a pair of alpine type r's 10"s or 12"s. maybe a set of Kicker L5's or even L7's. check ebay for these.

okay, i'm kind of hesitant about ebay
stick to dealers with good feedback ratings not just becasue they have lots of transactions. ikesound is a bit slow on occasion but they are pretty good. i have a pretty bad *** set of 12" subs that will own the audiobahns you were looking at. i have lots of good refs-no bad here and on ebay. let me know if your interested looking at about 140 shipped to your home. they are swiss audio spl 1290's they have not alot of play time. pics available as well.

Ported for more output.. (if you really wanna be loud)

Sealed for small output with SQ.. Personally I'd just port w/e you get.. I hear Type R's get hella louder ported.. and even sound better doing it ported.. so yea

Also.. If you really just want some lows for the moment.. then thats fine.. go ahead and get your subs/amp. just be careful with them until you DO get that good deck.. like don't exceed their rms and watch the gains & volume knob //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ebay? Man.. there is nothing wrong with ebay.. You are probally just getting that feeling.. that it sounds too good to be true right? Well I thought the same thing at first aswell.. but it all makes sense.. They buy items from the companies in huge quanities.. get a good deal.. so they are able to offer you those items at a lower price! But you also must remember that you are not getting factory warranty.. Although alot of dealers have their own dealer warranty..

If you do go through Ebay, I'd just suggest to steer away from indoaudio.. I keep hearing bad things about them.. =x

Goodluck bro.. I really hope you get everything figured out.. on what you want in your system.

what do you mean by gain and lows, and why would it matter on the hu?
you set the gains on your amp. There is a tutorial on how to do so in the amplifier section of this board... and about the HU... there are some settings that you should watch (don't overdo the bass) but mainly just keep your volume down if you don't want to blow your subs... It helps avoid distortion... just be sure what you got. I know on my HU that I can turn my volume up full (60/60) without a problem because of the amps/subs combo that I have. But you gotta look out for it.

okay, but i'm kind of lost for the moment, if it isn't a good deck, and i do hook up the subs/amp to it, why would i have to worry more than i would with the good deck?

Higher end decks have options like Hipass/lowpass crossovers.. and different options to help you send the right freq's to the right speakers/subs.. so that they aren't playing higher or lower then they should
