Help On Box For 15" RE MT

Bump...

Well yesterday I swapped in my friend's 18" BTL (5 cubes around 33-35hz) sub up port back and it moved a CONSIDERABLY larger amount of air then mine. Plus his box was kinda lame, small port for the box size and bad construction. (Yeah lino, I'm making fun of your box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)

So now I think I am going to try a sub up port back for the 15" MT, and if I still don't like it I'm going to play it far below tuning with no SSF, blow the soft parts, and get a 6-spoke 18" basket and recone.

Any thoughts on this? Also, if I go with a 6-spoke basket, I realize I'll need a recone to fit the basket. Will getting a different cone/spider/etc setup change any type of power handling or anything? I'm not too worried about changing the t/s parameters as I never had them anyways. Haha.

Thanks!

Also, if anybody has a 6-spoke basket that would fit the MT/BTL bolt pattern, PM me!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Bumping up before I switch classes. Hopefully I come to a thread full of new posts in Web Design! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Hm, well guys, how much air space should I be going for with an 18" MT?

I have some plans drawn up for 5.2 cubes after with 4 4" Aero ports tuned to 35 Hz.

I'm in class and don't remember if it was 5.2 AFTER port displacement or before... I'm 95% sure it was after port displacement though.

How does this sound? More/less airspace?

Hm good to know. I can't get to 8 cubes likely without building in the trunk (which I don't wanna do) but I can get more space definitely. I wasn't sure how much space to give an 18.

I can probably do 6-7 cubes though, I'll measure it out sometime soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

less spiders reduce the mechanical power handiling, but other than that, no,...

Sweet, thanks for the info mp3pimp.

And all the bumps between you and orangecounty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

BTW orangecounty, great work on the mini so far, looks like it'll be awesome when all is said and done. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thats not true at all....
somehow my buddies tuned to 36 is crushing the lows.
You said your buddy's that was tuned to 36 slams the lows? What size box does he have? I'm not sure whether you were pointing out that tuning to 35 was OK or that 5.2 cubes was fine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Thanks

i built him a box for an 18 mt thats 3.7 @ 36 hz with 80 or so squares of port
Holy tiny box batman!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif:eek:
