Help narrow down front system & amp. choices for SQ sytem

Hah - most people tend to go with a bridged amp for the comps - unless you want to go active. If you don't want to go active, then by all means, get a good amp and bridge it.
I apparently forgot to mention that I will go active, and it was my intention to mention that the 4-channel amp was to be bridged. Is it a bad idea to bridge the amp when going active, if so, why is that, I've never heard that one before.

So, if bridging is out of the question when going active, is it possible to drive both woofers and tweeters, at least initially from a 2-channel amp, going active?

I used to look at expensive amps.. then I thought.. would I be able to tell the difference (my ears not my wallet). Then I just went with what I could afford.
maybe i'm just a broke ***.
I've been thinking that way as well. I just do not want to end up with rubbish, and how do I avoid that?

Just run a 6 channel Mcintosh
/done.
If I could justify the cost, I've been told to stay away from 5-6-channel amps due to that they are kind of new beasts, and therefore their powersupplies can be inferior to 4-channel amps and less, anyone second that statement? Maybe Mcintosh is different, they must be used to powersupplies by now.

NO

you can go as far as bridging 2 channels for every single speaker. All up to you.

My plans for this up coming season is as follows:

Pioneer P9 combo

2 tweeters

2 mid ranges

3 mid bass

1 sub

Each speaker will be powered by a bridged 100.2 Sundown Audio amplifer. So, yes, you can go active and bridged at the same time.

#1- There are no flaws to a mcintosh amp. No one has ever complained about anything with a mcintosh except it's price.

their powersupplies can be inferior to 4-channel amps
#2- They said the same thing about 4 channels when they came out.

#3- The A606.2 six channel amp by PPI is is only one example that is over 12 years old.... how much longer do you need? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well, that's what I anticipated about the Mcintoshes, I know their reputation is rock-solid in home Hi-Fi.

For all other, I guess the views are divided as usual, but I would guess I can't go that wrong with a 6-channel, 12 years plus, is definitely plenty of time!

When being a newbie, trying so sift away all the nonsense or the not so well grounded info from the more reliable "facts" is one of the most time consuming tasks in car audio, but I won't give up, I'm so stubborn that it verge on stupidness.

IF you are really shooting for SQ, you should either go old school with a PPI 6 channel (eBay $500-ish) or Mcintosh 6 channel, or go new school with a MUCH more expensive version of the Mcintosh. (eBay has 6 channel Mcintosh old school for around $500, new one's from Mcintosh will run you $2500).

There's always Audio Art or Butler Tubedriver as well. (not in 6 channel for tubedriver they have a 4 channel, not sure about Audio Art for a 6 channel option - but it would be hard to find even if it were available).

There are some new school options for SQ, but for the money I'd take an old school Mcintosh and run with it. You are looking at tripling your prices going new school for the same quality.
