Okay I bought the truck with a very crappy amp and okay speakers to begin with. Under the back seat of my CCLB were 2 small enclosures which I assumed were 6x9's as they were connected to the HP crossover on the amp. Well I have swapped amps and added 1. So there are 6.5 inch comps in the doors. Boston tweeters and newly installed 6.5 inch peerless SDS mids. In my rear doors are Polk DB series 5.25 coaxials.
Today I got the idea to pull the speakers under the back seat and have a look for upgrades. Well there not 6x9's there a pair of 10 inch subs. Some idiot had them connected to the HP crossover on the amp. Well I connected them to the low pass and tweaked them a lil with the EQ. Now i have more bass then I can stand. Two 10 inch subs and a 8 inch bazooka bass tube is NUTS.
So now I need some ideas. Should I scrap or sell for a better term the bass tube. Or just ad more mids and high to achieve a balance. Also what would be a decent upgrade for the tweeters in the comps. I was looking at SEAS tweeters at Madisound. Any thoughts on that. I can edit the crossover to match the tweeter that ain't an issue. I have a decent Clarion Eq. And I have two Harmon Kardon CA260's for power. The one amp powers the comps in the front. and the other powers the coaxials in the rear. I have a small clarion amp that is now powering the subs. The clown previously had the rear 5.25's and what I now know are subs connected to the same terminals on that crappy amp with the HP on. I also have and ESS (forget the model) and Carver CA4075 power amps that are not in use. Where do I go from here. I am trying to fix the highs.....and achieve a better balance. I did turn the gain down on the subs but its still not enough. There either cranking bass or SILENT. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
