ok to start off id like to say i was planning on getting a FI BL 15" but now since they are out i think im going to go with the audioque hdc315" because its cheaper and i cant find any big differences. let me start off by saying i already cut out the peices fit for the BL and luckily i can re cut them to tune the box for the HDC3...(my port size for the BL was wrong anyway... thank god for RE audios box builder... now i have the right dimensions) and i have some scrap left over.... but the problem is, if mounting depth is the height of the interior of the box plus the top 3/4ths of an inch im still .3" short of the HDC3's mounting depth. (inside height = 7.75") so i was thinking, since the box is square and the sub is going on top, could i just slap a peice of 1/2 inch MDF on the top of the box to raise the sub up.. i know it would look funny but its kind of my only option with out buying all new mdf... will i still be able to nail the port from the top? i havent cut out the sub hole yet...

right now the box is 38x25.5x9.25

and if you know, can the hdc3 run on 1 ohm? how many watts should i run, because i was planning on getting a hifonics bxi1608d and running 1 ohm at 1600w.

thanks for any and all help...

So you are saying the sub and port our on the top of the box. And If you say you want to add another layer to the top you dont think you will be able to cut the port out ????

Is the port hole already cut into the box. If so just add another layer to the one side that you want to put the sub on.

no, the box isnt assembled yet, the port is on the side and the sub is on the top. I dont know if i will be able to cut out the sub hole, or nail the vent peices becuase of the thickness. (im also wondering if that method of adding wood to the top will work)

You mean like a double baffle?

If your sub is up and your port is back, you can just add another sheet of MDF on the top and use wood glue all over that bish.

That'll give you an extra 3/4"

And BTW That's not weird. It's called double baffling. =P

Just completely assemble everything before you add the second baffle.

good point thanks...

ok yeah. thanks guys. i thought it would work... im not sure if it has a pole vent can anyone help me out here??? the pictures on the audioque site doesnt show the back of the sub....

never mind then, "a vented cross drilled extended pole piece with flared ends for increased cooling and less noise" is standard...

is there a big difference between copper coils or aluminum coils?

which one can be wired at 1 ohm, the d2 or d1?
