help me wire these correctly

okay, I have

Phoenix Gold Xenon 1200.1 amp. Its 1200 RMS if u dont kno the amp. runs 1200 @ 1,2,3,4 ohms

and I ordered 2 of the Phoenix gold RSDC124 12" subs. the specs are 1200w/600rms.

looks like it matches the amp perfectly.

So am I just going to run the + from one coil and the neg from coil #2 to the amp. and then jump the pos from one coil to the neg of the other, right? and that will be 4 ohms? i hear its less strain on the battery.

and my amp has two sets of +,- for the speaker inputs. whats with that? how do I connect them? its a mono amp. Sorry for the many questions, just dont want to damage my new expensive equipment

also. right now I have 4ga back. but i ordered a 1/0 kit. is that over kill? or is 4gauge fine?

car is a 02 ford focus SVT with a 110amp alternator.

my battery is a duralast with 500CCA

any advice would help. and i dont really know how to set the gains and stuff. i know to use a 50hz sine wave, but thats about it.

Just hook each sub up to their own input on the amp and do the big 3 and you should be fine without the alt.

you have two dual 4 ohm subs, and you want to connect them to the amp.

if you wire them in series as you describe, you'll have 8 ohms per sub.

Then you can combine the two subs in parallel inside the box, or at the amp - resulting in 4 ohms total.

there are two (+) and two (-) terminals on the amp so you can parallel speakers easier (instead of cramming two wires in one terminals). they are connected internally, so use either one or both.

1/0 would help with voltage drop, it's never a bad thing to have larger wire. if you get everything installed, and you can't maintain voltage after the big 3 and new battery, go with an alt or turn it down. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

it says the two terminals are internally wired in paralell

not sure if that changes your advice?

also i ordered a non fused distribution block from 1/0 gauge to dual 4 ga. so i can hook up both power/ground inputs on the amp. since they both have 2 each. is that a good idea? or just run the 1/0 to the amp? lol if itill fit! haha

how do i properly set my HZ settings on my kenwood excelon x493? I know how to navigate the menus and blah blah, but i dont know what settings i should be cutting off and letting the sub take over

yes, those terminals are in parallel. you can combine the two subs at the amp or in the box.

sub crossover points range from 60Hz to 100Hz. it mostly depends on the low frequency range of your speakers. find a balance that sound best to you. it's best to experiment. Start with 80Hz and move from there.
