Help me pick an amp!

First post here. Im putting together a decent budget system, in my 99 Lexus SC300. Its been a while since I've bought car audio. Alls I know is, ..the amps of today, dont seem to compare to what I had in the mid 90's. So, ..for picking an amp for my sub, ..I dont know what to look at!

Here's what I have so far (not installed yet):

Alpine cda-9886

Kinetik HC600 cell added

Hifonics 4 channel GenX Saturn

-front: Infinity Kappa 62.9i (4ohm) I plan on adding a pair of 4 ohm tweeters, in the stock location.

-rear: Pioneer ts-d602p (2ohm)

Kenwood kac-x401m

-sub: Kicker s12l7 (4 ohm voice coils), in a 1.3ft sealed box

I think the mids/highs will be alright. This Hifonics outta push the crap out of these 6.5's. I think they'll be pretty maxed out.

My freind is telling me that this old Kenwood amp, isnt going to push the s12l7, like I want it to. He says I should build a ported, tuned enclosure for it, ..and put at least 800 watts rms to it. Idk if I should look for another old school, bigger amp, ..or what? If so,...I can spend $300 on one. I just want some hard hitting, clean, bass, ..to match my loud highs. Any opinions are appreciated. Stick to old school, ..or look at a used, newer amp? Where to start?

Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D, BRZ 1200.1D Class D Car Amplifier/Amp

This will do a legit 1200 rms. I'm sure someone will say it's junk because it's not a $500 fosgate or sundown

But I personally had this amp, used the fock out of it until it was stolen. Now I use the older model I had (bxi1210d) and it still works flawlessly

I have shocked, dropped and beat on these hifonics including temp (Minnesota has record heat summers and record cold winters) it performs fine either way)

^^^ A 1200w amp for under $200 with free shipping? What did they get it for, ..$100? That cant be worth a chit. I have a hifonics txi4406 Titan, ....and its the biggest pos ever. No way it put our the rated power, ..and it started f*%king up within a month? Now its a big paper weight!

Hifonics BRZ series are actually decent, however if you want a bigger forum nuthug. Sundown 1200, Sundown 1500 (keep gains down), or look into Audioque 1200

How bout a Digital Designs SS4, and M2? And, I just wont use the lil Kenwood?

Btw, ..I just bought 2 rolls (100sq ft) of 50mil Fatmat. Ima use it in the trunk, quarter panels, doors, and back dash. Im trying to talk my cousin out of his Focal K2 component set, ..and I could run the 4 6.5's in the back dash.

Fat mat is thin and dries out and flakes off. I would return it.
