Is the 1 ohm the put more strain on the amp and the boston being a ab/d hybrid worse than a class d only . Also size dosnt matter really cause it mounts to the back seat but is the polk better brand or is that amp better for being a class d
Yes, one ohm will put more strain than a 2 ohm load, but not enough to kill the amp if it is designed to run that low. When it comes to low impedance, be more concerned with your cars electrical system (big 3, alternator etc).
Also, generally speaking a/b will sound better but d will be more efficient, both are class D on the sub channel, and thats where most of the current will be drawn so efficiency isn't a big concern amongst these 2 amps.
Personally, I say Boston is the better brand, also the better choice in this scenario. You have the space, it offers superior sound of class A/B on the mids and highs, and it's cheaper.
No, both amps will last just as long as the other as long as u treat them right.
Maybe a couple bucks but not alot to deal with online shipping etc i also like to support my local guys. The polk i havent seen cheaper tho and it can handle a one ohm load but i really dont know its so tuff
I understand paying that difference to buy locally, I would too.
If I don't need a one ohm stable amp, then don't concern yourself with that part if the amps. It doesnt mean the Polk is better, because of it or because it costs more. In my experience with Boston products, they are the bottom of their price range, cost-wise, but top notch in quality. Not saying Polk is bad, but, Boston is hard to beat for the price on a lot of things.
I just installed a GTA-1105 this weekend, the amp is a great purchase. I can't personally speak about the other amp, however I do know someone who installed the 4 channel version and didn't like it at all.
