Apologize sincerely but not overdoing it, and show him you have made some sort of change. Like bring in a planner or something to show him that you're trying to improve yourself. Don't lie. My friend made up this elaborate lie once, and the professor demanded proof when the guy said his girlfriend was ***** he had to go to the hospital etc. He obviously didn't have it, so he apologized and said he was really nervous and just didn't want to fail the exam and didn't know what else to say. The professor told him that he despises liars and there is nothing he can do at this point. Do you really think your prof has never heard any of the elaborate stories you are trying to come up with.. not only will he not let you retake it he will think your a retard.. Be like.. Look It was the main thing on my mind thursday night but When i woke up i completely forgot about it.. Ask if he will let you retake it even if it means a lower grade off the bat..
