I am buying a 1960 Cadillac 4-dr sedan and would like to install a mild system without bastardizing the original interior. There is already an aftermarket stereo installed inside the glove box. Lets assume I will use that head unit (no video) and I have a budget of $3000. I think for the front speaker application custom kick panels would be a good choice. For the rear speakers, I will probably remove the original rear deck and replace it with a custom deck and mount my speakers to that. It has been a long time since I have shopped for speakers. Are 6x9's still a good choice for the rear? I think my biggest need for help is in the subwoofer selection. I like a tight jazzy sound for alternative rock, classic rock, country, but with enough bottom end for reggae music. What is a good mid-grade amplifier(s) I could use for this system. Gel Cell... Capacitor... What do you think? And finally, who does good but reasonable installs in the east Los Angeles county area.
Thanks for getting me started.
