everyone... ive been posting here for my own reasons

about upgrading my subs... but... im sure you can help

with this also...

my girlfriend wants a little bump in her trunk... shes got

a 2004 sunfire... no biggie... i figure ill get her one 12" sub...

now correct me if im wrong... but basically a ported box will

be bigger and louder... but a sealed box would be smaller

and cleaner sounding???

i dont really want to spend more than 300.00 on the amp,

sub and box... not to mention wiring and install... but im

really just concerned with the amp, sub and box...

im not so much looking for sub recommendations or amp

recommendations... but setup recommendations as a

whole... my zero knowlege of ohms and channels and

this and that leaves me a little ignorant in my search...

thanks...

i did this same scenario for one of my g/f and spent 250 total i believe, i baught a 4 gauge schoch wiring from wal mart, baught a refurb rf he2 from ebay for 85 bucks and its still bumping good and baught a 375 watt us akustics amp from ebay for 100, and she used here stock head unit so i jsut paid like 5 buck for a line converter and a custom bock at a audio shot for 35 sealed that was 1.35 cu befor sub displacement which was about perf for the he2. total i kno she didnt pay over 300 and everything is still working fine and bumps real good, she thinks it's perfect, and its meld real nice with her front stage, she drives a focus zx3 by the way if anyone cared.

edit: i didn't see your ohm thing,if you want the cheapest thing get a dual 4 12 sub because theres a lot of choices out there for 2 ohm stable mono amps.

Wow, how many misspelled words can you fit into a single post??

Just find a good, low-power sub (~300w or so) and a mono amp. Walmart wiring kits will work fine, along with her stock headunit as the guy above me said.

In times like this, the F/S section can be your friend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the guy at circuit city told us we had to get a 2 channel amp... he told

us that a mono amp was for dual subs...

it didnt make sense to me so i assumed he was retarded and left...

the wiring kit ill probably just get from the place thats going to install

it... i know the guy... i dont think he even charged me for some of the

stuff he put in my system install...

we will be using her factory head unit... that was never an option...

its really not that bad and it pulls down the radio station info for

each song that comes on... i even saw it display the company info

that a commercial was advertising...

Your going for cheap (cost wise), yet you are going to pay to have it installed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

That has got to be the stupidest thing that i have ever heard

HEY it is not g30ffr3y's fault...it is guys like that at Circuit City,Fry's,Good Guys etc..that probably are not STUPID as much as they are trying to sell you more expensive crap.

I have gotten some REAL winners at those places who tell me things a 5th grader knows is not true..

Best one I ever heard was "WE WILL TRY TO PRICE MATCH CRUTCHFIELD BUT THEY ARE TYPICALLY THE CHEAPEST AROUND"

Thats why g30ffr3y asked the wise members at caraudio.com for help!!!LOL

I got a Fosgate 160A2 and a 10" Pioneer bandpass tube for my girls 4Runner...only cost me $40 on Ebay...SHE LOVES IT...Not too much bass (girls actually hate that) but enough boom to make her think she's got a sweet system...
i don't know about that. . . my girl is always bugging me to make her sh!t louder.

Ya know my philosophy is you can get a nice system for real cheap..but to get a BIGGER improvement you need ALOT MORE MONEY.."Decent" Bass has gotten very affordable in the last few years..a couple hundred bucks gets you a respectable set up nowadays
what's it say under you name

B.S. it's only 5% equipment
i got some cheap sh!t. $100 for my amp m681i, $30 a piece for my sony xplod 12's, $15 for my 4 ga wire, and $5 for my RCA. that $180. it sounded like crap in a sealed box 1ft per sub, as per manufactur specs. . . sounded like crap!!! put them in a big box tuned it low, and they sound f-ing great(considering) not saying mine is the best out there but i've heard worse sounding systems out there that people have spent way more on! my friend has about $2000-2500 in his system, put it in a prefab box, and it ain't much louder than mine.
