Help me build a nice frontstage

i went passive on my xxx mids with the ID cd1es. also have the regular RE components in kickpanels--i'm prolly overdoing it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

xxxs are in the doors, kickpanels barely visible under floor mats, this setup just keeps up with a pair of koda 10s though

Add some ID horns //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif and run active.

If I can get the insurance company to replace my 880prs, I could run active with that.

I dont think I want to run horns- I dont know how to properly install them, etc. Probably just go with a nice set of tweets.

How about an external crossover? Will I need one of those to run active?

Also need suggestions on an amp- need 200 x 2 at 2 ohms for the XXX mids, and power for whatever tweets I go with.

budget for both tweets and amp? what's the voice coil config of the xxx mids? do you have access to an FR graph of the xxx mids?

Not sure on budget right now. Ill probably have to buy them all seperately- Id rather get nice stuff slowly then crap all at once.

XXX mids are 2 ohms each, single coil.

Nope, havent seen a graph of the response.

Seperate X-over is a good thing when running active. You could use a HU that has the option. Just don't run the XXX mids to high. They start to sound un-natural.

So, the 880prs would work? I wouldnt need a seperate crossover then?

hmm okay. if you are going active (i'd suggest it too), then there are plenty of options. just a guess that the xxx mids cannot play high at all so i'm guessing you need a tweet that can be crossed low. if you can fit a large format tweet then you can maybe go with the dayton rs28a or any of the seas large format tweets.

if you want a compact tweet look into seas lotus ref tweets, since they can be crossed very low ( i have them crossed at 1.6khz right now). but again depends on the budget though.

How high can the XXX mids go?

This is going to be a two way active setup, I dont need sound capable of winning sq competitions, just want something nice.

Could the mids go up to 1600 if I got a tweet that could be crossed that low?
