I have a Hifonics BX1500D With 0gauge on it and a 200AMP FUSEHOLDER/FUSE... sometime during the day without powering the lights on... my battery gauge goes really down and the sound starts to fade and than comes back... a guy from a shop told me that maybe it was the fuse that I'm running and I should get a 100amp fuse... but I don't really know.. I've had systems before but the lights never went down like on this system. by the way.. I own a Ford ranger '01 and have a Rockford T2... So please help me!! I'm very stressed out because I don't know what to do and how to fix the problem... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Who told you the fuse is whats wrong with your electrical systom? That is definitally not true.

Does this happen when your playing it at full volume? It sounds like you need a bigger battery and/or alt.

with songs that have loud and long bass... like on the old school

MC-BREED...ain't no future in yo frontin'

the battery needle goes really down... will a cap fix this problem??

Your puny alternator is getting its *** whooped by your stereo, time to get a bigger one and possibly add a second battery.

Do not under any curcumstance add a capacitor, it will only worsen your problem, in fact if you go and buy a capacitor(cap) without upgrading your alternator first, I will come over to your house and slap your momma for not teachin you right. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/jk.gif.ba617e50836573747a97050af2b21696.gif

whats a "capacitator"?
Is that a rhetorical question?.

adj 1: of or relating to rhetoric; "accepted two or three verbal

and rhetorical changes I suggested"- W.A.White; "the

rhetorical sin of the meaningless variation"- Lewis

Mumford

2: concerned with effect or style of writing and speaking; "a

rhetorical question is one asked solely to produce an

effect (especially to make an assertion) rather than to

elicit a reply" [ant: unrhetorical]

My alternator is 95amps I think and my amp has 2 60amp fuses... plus i have a 200amp fuse in my fuse holder... do you think that with a bigger alt I will resolve my problem or should I buy the optima yellow first and see how it works?

Get a 140 to 160 amp alternator or get your original rebuilt to higher spec.

Beef up all your underhood ground connections with at least 2gauge wire, like the engine ground strap and the battery to fender wire.

Main power wire from the battery to the amp should be no bigger or smaller than your battery ground wire as they are part of same chain.

The 200 amp fuse is a little excessive for your amp but will still provide protection if a wire shorts out.

Upgrade the main charging lead wire from your alternator to your battery with at least a 4gauge wire.

For extended playing time with the ignition off add a second battery of identical specs to the original and add an isolator.

After that you can ad a cap if you wish. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

There are already too many "capacitors are bad" threads in this forum. Please don't start another.

I would say something to make you look stupid but it looks like you took care of it yourself. read the entire thread next time.

EDIT: never mind, miscommunication cleared up, move along.
