Help in choosing an amp

I’m upgrading the audio system in my Toyota Corolla Ascent 2010 and have chosen the following parts:

Alpine SPS 610C Component 6.5” for the front – 80W RMS

Alpine SWS-12D4 subwoofer – 12 inch, 500W RMS

But am stuck on which amplifier to power both of the above. Am keeping the rear factory speakers for the moment, so am just looking for something with sufficient power for the 2 fronts and 1 sub.

Any suggestions? I prefer to have a single amp, rather than 2 – which probably means 5 channel is the way to go?

How does it sound stock? The biggest problem is introducing a subwoofer that overpowers the entire soundstage.

But stick with Alpine.

What's your plan for speaker brackets and a box for the sub? Would you consider one of my packages if I were to email some information?

if your hu has hp xover i'd just leave old rear speaker in, many of don't even run them.. if hu don't have hp xover look at kenwood 301 $119 it's very nice.. u can get ppi 900.4 or a skar 4 channel (or there are many other, just read reviews) bridge rear 2 channels to sub..

if you like more bass than vocals then get the pioneer. you'll get more subwoofer power out of that due to it being optimal at a 2 ohm load vs the massive nano which does more at 1 ohm.

However with the massive nano, you can easily add another type S D4 sub in the future along with having a lot of power for your vocals which is a lot more future proof.

I can honestly say though those type S speakers will sound worse than the stock corolla speakers unless you have a killer head unit and do a lot of acoustical door treatments.

dude that massive is nice but for the $ and reviews i'd jump on that pioneer 600rms to sub perfect..

His sub is a dual 4,need something that does 2 ohm mono.

Also for the head unit, I’m stuck between the Alpine CDE-W265EBT (2 DIN, non-touch) or the Sony MEX-N5200BT. Both are well received and has great reviews, but any experience on which unit has the best UI and sounds better?

I used to own that NX5....about the length of 3 cd's put together, about 2" tall. It's pretty small for a powerful amp.

I vote for the PPI 900.4..Ive experienced and still have..900.4, 1000.1d,and even the 600.2..all great little amps

that particular Sony head unit model shouldnt be in the equation at all, low quality DAC and weak preout voltage signals on that unit, forget about even looking at that junk.

Your other choice should be the kenwood kdc x301. Alpine has a sharper sound while kenwood has a warmer laid back sound signature kenwood has more EQ bands but is only graphical vs alpine's parametric. Both still have Q factors. The kenwood is easier to adjust soundstage and time alignment while alpine has an app where you can tune everything from. So UI for both is pretty solid and simple.

I've used type R and Type S and can honestly say both are extremely mediocre

these are much better, more detailed, smooth and have good instrument seperation.
