SO Ive gone through 2 amps in my bronco. I have them mounted under the dash as their very small. One RF pbr300 and a kenwood. Now I just hooked up a soundstream but for some reason the ground wasnt strong enough but I got it working. I had them mounted with screws through the floorboard. Could the screws have grounded the amps out somehow? I dont want to make the same mistake a third time so I would like to see why their blowing.

You went thru 2 amps prob because of a few reasons: installer error, clipped/dirty signal.

So why not pick a better area to mount the amps rather than under the dash?

I don't understand what you mean by the SS amp ground wasn't strong enough. Do you mean the wire you were using wasn't thick enough?

No I used the same ground I used for the other 2 amps but it wouldnt turn on the SS amp. Maybe their too finicky. Im gonna make a better ground for this one.

It shouldn't matter for a few reasons: bare metal to metal and appropriate wire gauge used.

Get some voltmeters dude.

Crappy wiring can cause a dip in voltage and that can be deadly to amps

Grounding spot must be one that makes a lot of contact with the car's chasis, you cant just mount it to some little bracket

Im using 2 rca splitters on the amp. Could they be a problem?
No,shouldnt be an issue. What is your supply wiring and grounding?Size and do you have an Inline fuse/of fusing the amps at all?How hot does it get under that dash? Any air flow taken place?Gains turned to max or beyond 50%?What are you placing that amp on?Sub? speakers? What Models are they, What Head unit being used?Model #.Need a little more information

I believe its a ground issue. I ran the ground wire through the firewall and to another ground that was attached to and electrical box under the hood. The new amp wouldnt power on til I removed the screw the ground was attached to and cleaned it. All the gains were set properly and theres an inline fuse that didnt pop nore did the fuse on the amp which is strange. They were 4 channel amps.
