Help end argument with friend

Just make sure you have good power on your amp and you'll be good as gold, it's best to have a shop do the test that way he don't think your trying to get over on him. If I was in your shoes I would do it :)

My point is you're encouraging these guys to compare amps based on blind speculation when based on their comments clearly do not have the means to test. So my point is that while your statements had the best of intentions you didn't think them out too well. Don't get offended, that wasn't my intent. It's the internet.
Based on their comments they are considering "getting them tested"....not sure what that means to you but to me that means taking them to a person or place that does said testing and getting it done. I'm sure if the insenuation was that they were gonna do the testing themselves he would have said something more along the lines of "we're gonna test them". I've seen both amps clamped, which is how my suggestion that he take the bet not a blind speculation in any way, shape or form.....what you just did, assuming I didn't know what i'm talking about nor have any experience with either amp, shows how blind you are. Did you bother to ask me what my experience was with either amp or did you just automatically assume what it was? Exactly!
I have seen the Fosgate amp clamp as much as ~1480rms, incredible for an amp rated at 1k. I have never seen that HiFonics bench lower than ~1700 (only tested 3 of them). So based on my experience with said amps, it is highly suggested that he take this bet not only to prove that his amp does alot more than his buddies suggestion of 800max, but also to prove that his buddy isn't as knowledgeable as he thinks he is. This is the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone!

I have never had an amp tested. What is the process of having it done? will they hook the amps up to a power source or leave them in the car? Obviously it would only be fair if both amps were on the same power source. My guess is we'd just hook them up to the same car.

My other concern is settings on the amp. I have no idea if i have my settings set for optimum power. If this bet was going to go down, i may have to refer to you guys before going up to the shop, to ensure I have everything correctly adjusted.

Sir im sorry to tell you pretty much 100% of his argument is valid. That rockford will **** all over your hifonics in both build quality and reliability. As well as raw power output. I will say it like this, ive seen brand new hifonics amps that dont work, and ive seen 20 year old beat to hell rockford amps that still do.
not all fosgates will they have plenty of garbage in their line up

Its like comparing a less HP car with great suspension geometry and upgrades vs. an American high HP car for the same price. One is GREAT at one thing, total power. The other does less "usable" power that can play in a couple categories because of it's diverse "pedigree".

Screw > You
If thats the case clip them both and the RF will walk on it. And sound better doing it. RF wins regardless, just cause its not a peice of junk.
97% of Rockfords new stuff is nothing to write home about. Much better can be had for far less.

RF wins in everything except power in this case.
