HELP!! CD Installation Pontiac Sunfire

Im trying to help a buddy put a aftermarket radio in a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire. It has a security system protecting the radio evidently. He has tried to hook up two aftermarket hu's and they will both work until the volume is turned up then the only thing to play is a beep and then the cd player wont work. It will do the same thing with a factory hu, if it is not the one that come in the car it will display LOCK on the screen. Any help would be greatly appretiated.

first time hearing that. did u use harnesses or are you hard wiring everything. if you hard wire the whole thing i doubt it would do that since all u would connect would be +12, acc, ground, and the speaker wires.

Evidently there is a special harness you have to buy or you have to take it to the dealership and have them clear a code? Is this right..
