HELP Can I use 2 types of kicker tweeters and still sound good???? Grade this setup -

Just because Kicker has expensive gear, does not automatically grant it quality status. People complain about their prices, because you pay so much, for such little quality. If L7's were 50 bucks, they would be great. Why? Because you would be paying $50 for what you get, so it's understandable the lack of quality that comes with it. You don't see people on here whining about JL/RF prices. Why? Because their gear is actually quality.

It doesn't matter how long they've been around either. Hifonics has been here since 1981. Where are they now? Making cheap gear for Maxxsonics. They may of been great in the 90's, but not anymore.

yes I am. you put equal to equal power wise and the quality is there. also Kicker's power will be a 2Ω giving their amps a slight edge on efficiency.
as for the lanes, they aren't in the lanes now. they were a few years back. you don't see RF or JL in the lanes either.

for your everyday builds Kicker, RF, JL are all good choices. maybe for your extremes they lose out b/c only RF has 4" coil motors or high powered PA mids and tweeters. not everyone is going to be putting 4 18s with 40k watts of power in their vehicle.
Quality is not there. What L7 can actually take its rated power? What Kicker sub can be ran over its rated power? I don't see their amps being ran at .5 Ohm and under. As for your everyday builds, all these other brands will give you more bang for you buck. Not to mention you won't sound like complete **** like all the Kicker builds around where I go to school at.

And OP, there's much better to be had for the price, but if you're getting it marked down so much then might as well. If you're getting their high end stuff then you should be good to go for your tastes.

just b/c you haven't seen a competent build with Kicker doesn't mean they are junk, same with JL or RF. I have been able to run over rated power to all the Kicker subs I've done installs for. look, clearly you are just a mainstream hater which is fine. that doesn't give you permission to just slander all these companies just b/c you hate they with no real solid proof. I never said that there aren't better products out there. I am telling the OP that all the hate that you and other are showing is just in your heads. just b/c you can run an amp at .5Ω doesn't show quality b/c if you have any real knowledge than you'd know that running at a lower impedance cause more strain on your electrical and effect the efficiency of the amp to be able to produce power. i'm sure you're not old enough to remember when Lanzar, Orion, and US Amps had amps that would easily go into the .25Ω range and they could do it all day. where are those companies now? are they still producing amps that even put out rated? are they producing amps that can even be ran .5Ω? most of the larger brands produce their power at 2Ω b/c of efficiency, the smaller brands produce their power at 1Ω b/c that's where they can cut cost to be able to charge large brand prices. it's the only way to be price competitive. look at the subs by larger companies, they have their own coils, cones, surrounds, baskets, etc... while all the smaller companies use similar baskets, coils, cones, surrounds, etc... b/c it cuts down. I guess I can't fault you for being a hater, you seem to be good at it.

I never hated on JL or RF, hell I run a RF amp (their cheapest model) and would recommend it to anyone. I don't mind Kicker amps, but there are better out there in the same price range. I do hate their subs because I have yet to see a competent build. You seem to be nagging on the smaller companies now. Who do you see in the lanes and high power builds? Yes you will see JL and especially RF amps, but not so much Kicker (with the exception of the occasional Warhorse). There's a reason for that. They now target the people who don't know any better and can charge higher prices for mediocre speakers/subs (again, the amps are pretty decent). I won't change my mind until I start seeing legitimate builds with Kicker.

I never once told the OP to not buy it. Just stating that there are much better options. But I also told him that for the price its really hard to pass up.

Last year we lost an amazing person (Alma Gates) who was a pioneer in every meaning of the word. I was fortunate to meet her on occasion and speak with her.

I am old enough to see many people compete with brands less popular today, than in the past, and I have also witnessed records being set with the same equipment. I know the quality of the past may not be up to par, but I do know the lessons learned while designing the audio equipment has been proven in the lanes, and have made there way into some of the equipment today.

With that being said, I have heard Kickers in countless enclosures, but I can't seem to like the sound. But that's just me.

Never be scared to run a product others don't run. Just remember it's all audio, and your tastes will dictate the importance of your decisions. Not a name.
