HELP! blew my ava off of 800w?!?

nd thats where i usually have it at.
40/60

sending her out to get a recone monday. 50$ for a recone...and probably close to 80$ to ship both ways:( i was almost tempted to just say fu*k it and run to my local shop and get me a W7.

so turn all eq's to flat, and all boosts to 0..

use the DMM and find my correct voltage..

then what. set HU power to 2/3 of capabilities and start setting things from there?
A w7 wont do u any good if you do the same thing.

Why? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
That just adds the risk of one of your dumb friends putting the volume high and totally clipping the bejeesus out of it. Not to mention that theres a reason it goes up to 62, you're just creating a higher noise floor by setting the gains higher to compensate for the lower signal input. I'd rather EQ it so that everything sounds balanced at the 40ish point.
all of my friends know if you touch my stereo your getting out of the car no matter where im at.

Good luck with your re-cone or next purchase.
thnks, and yea, ill be sure to give it a better break in.

lol @ srt4 owner
i guess that is really funny. let me laugh w/ you. lol:rolleyes:

no shit, id be learning from my mistakes to prevent a mishap like this happening again.

i bet you set the gain at a low volume and then cranked the volume up after u "set your gain"
thats what had happened. the guy installing it used his DMM when we had the HU playing at a low level. ill be sure to do it on my own this time.

If you had the sub around play for 2hrs total you shouldn't of had your gains set so high. Seems to me like an improper break in. Maybe if you had a longer break in period you could of worked your way up to that. That ava shouldn't have blown off of 800w. I think your gains were set wrong, for break in. Some subs need to loosen the suspension a lil so they can handle the appropriate power.
This same thing happened to my buds Power Acoustik FUBAR. We were sending 500rms to it and lit up in flames. Gains were moderately a little over half. Got another one and lowered the gains a little, let it play for awhile. Then set the gains to where they were before. Sub works fine.

I did the same with my MTX. Now my gains are a little over 3/4. Been like that for 3mos now. With no protection, smoking of any sort or distortion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

I don't think so... the first power my friend's ava 12 saw was 1400 watts continuous... thats a hell of a wake up call. We were feeding it that much for a little over a week before he got his Soundstream Picasso 2.880, it still wangs.
