HELP ASAP! Can This be RE-re-solderd?

If it was a shitty tinsel job with speaker wire connecting it then it was probably just a quick fix for the original seller to get rid of it. Once someone put a little power to it it just came apart

I Will probably try to do most of it my self. I have mad razor blade skills. lol. Soldering Ill see if CRXBMPNS wife can do it for me. Ill stop by a stereo shop about 30 mins away (closest one) and see if I can get some tinsel. If not does anyone know where I can order some from?

Smack the center of the dustcap with a screwdriver or a wrench and carefully peel it away from the glue joint...it'l shatter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Pull the broken lead through, solder new tinsel to the old lead..glue down to the cone, solder it to the terminal, put new dustcap on it..done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Edit/ps: You unloaded the sub which is why the lead snapped, might want to adjust your subsonic filter..

Lead (tinsel) was speaker wire. with a bad solder job at the very base of the speaker cone.. Some of the cone papre is actually stuck to the wire that was solderd in place.

My subsonic filter is fine. I can tune very well. I have been doing this for about 11 years. Im just not a huge poster, or crazy SPL guy. Just decided to do this more often and get more involved instead of the everyday kind of basic stereo. Its just the shitty prior quick fix I nor the seller new anything about. And I have never had this problem so I wanted to post it to know my options.

Anyone know how much a Re-cone on this ish' go's for?

If its a stereo REPAIR shop they should have some. But a local CA shop most likly won't have them.It is repairable just as has been described.
Its just a CA shop not a repair place. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif None of them around here..

Anyone know where I can order some ?

Depends on where you get it from.

RE will sell you one, but it will be a bit more pricy than say Fi. I don't know exact prices, but IIRC it's like ~150.00? Contact NDmustang65, he can give you a price from Fi.

You'll have to email RE.

Dust cap is off. Now I got to order me some tinsel.. And talk to my buddy there to see if they can re do it. Honestly doesnt look like to bad of a job. Im thinking of getting one of those $5 kits to solder the shit my self if that would work...

Where do I order tinsel from?

A full dustcap will be the only way to cover it up. The dustcap probably isnt going to come off clean and easy.
Oh but it did. took me about 10 mins of being very careful but it came off. got the excess glue off the cone, got the glue off the dust cap.. its already to be put back on with no problems once I can get me some tinsel and some solder done. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks ..told ya so.

OK where can I buy tinsel lead offline?

Just be very careful with the lead wires coming from the coil at the top of the former.

You're performing speaker surgery. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

just get some tinsel lead.then do this

http://forum.carstereos.org/showpost.php?p=687949&postcount=19

the sub will be in the box so who cares what the lead looks like. i did this with my xxx 15. and since then it has never come off.

EXDIT: nevermind, you got the dustcap opff and got access to the lead. good job!
Meh... He's already got the DC off... might as well do it the best way he can. Not with a half-*** solder joint.
