Help amp is acting up

I have used every ground imaginable I even drilled through the floor straight into the frame with a nice shinny sanded area. The amp never goes into protect when this happens. I think the reason he got shocked had something to do with what may be wrong inside the amp.

What made you think a 4g ground would be fine when your power wire to the trunk is 2/0? The ground always has to be at least the same size as the power. Change that first and see if it helps. You'll have to get a 2/0 to 4g distro block or reducer. Make the 4g length as short as possible.

I think you misread his post. He has 2 gauge run to a distro block, then 4 gauge from the distro to the amp. So he has 4 gauge coming in and out of the amp, which is correct.

As long as connections are tight and clean, then this shouldn't be the problem.

i'm pretty sure I read it right. He's running 2/0 power from bat to distro and 4g from distro to amp. But he's then running a 4g ground from amp to chassis. The ground wire size should be the same as the power. And 2/0 might be too big for a chassis ground - it may require a dedicated 2/0 ground from the bat.

I am sure it is fine considering that is all that fits into the amp. That small stretch of 4ga pry has less resistance than the long stretch of 2/0 anyways.

Contacted db-r and this is what they had to say about it.

You likely have a failing power supply or have some broken legs on some of the mosfets, or possibly some failed rail capacitors. I would stop using the amp ASAP before you make the damage to it MUCH worse. Depending on what exactly is wrong with it the repair price on this amp could range anywhere from $100-$250, but yes we can repair it.
The board in this amp is just a bigger version of the same board that it's alot of other amps. Some of the Alphasonik amps, the Planet Audio, TT2250D P2250, VX2200D, the Power Acoustik A3000DB. Those amps all use a VERY similar board, but the board in the Opti 2000D has about 20%-30% more mosfets for about that much in power increase over those other models.

Hate to bump an old but got the link from the sale forum.

WE had one doing about the same thing, Cost to repair was a $150 MO to Lanzar and it came back working great. The ship to address for them is funny and sad.

could this be the problem?

looks as if the solder on the right speaker terminal has been burned off but has no evidence of damage to the board

Whoa!!! That's a sign from God!
Fix your ground wires. You do not have a good ground, either a loose connection or a bad contact at the ground point. Your using the same thickness of wire for the ground as for the main power positive right?
im runing 1/0 gauge power wire but my ground is 4 gauge whats going to happen if i leave it like this

I put some solder on the peg and will be testing it out tomorrow i hope it works!!! I tested the terminal with a dmm. Before it was 32.32ohms and now its .890 ohms. I hope that has some significance.
