Help a noobie out

my 1st setup was 4 MA Audio 15's per sub 800 Peak 400 RMS i dnt know how i blew them but they fried quickly.....

2nd setup was 2 Alphasonik 15'' 900 series Mayhem per sub 5000 Peak 2500 rms....

3rd setup 3 Power Acoustic 12'' 800 Peak 400 rms....

my 4th and last setup was 2 ssl 15'' 2400 Peak 1200 rms but these were completely OVER Rated smh waste of money.......

with every setup up i had i used my hifonics 2608 wit an extra battery from a Grand Marquis w/ a 2.5 farad capacitor to help power everything

so now i want to get one solid sub

i just dnt want to under power a sub and blow it so if i have to upgrade my amp i will

i figure i need to upgrade my power supply

UNDERPOWERING A SUB WILL NOT BLOW IT!!!!!!! however, not sending enough power to the amp will bow the amp... so upgrade your electrical, then go find two used sa12's, a nice amp, and a good box and you will be very happy...

LMFAO! You're killin' me! What part of Minnesota by the way? I've been there a couple times. Grew up in Milwaukee and went to see a couple Packers/Vikings games at the dome. Ya dare hey!

I miss the snow man! Not so much the freakin' cold but I do miss the snow. My parents are still up there. Said it's been pretty nice lately....

Anyway, so 18" Boss (Chaos or Phantom) in 20 cubes at 300 htz? Seems about right.... Although if it's the Chaos he could probably get away with 18 cubes.

yeah 18 cubes and a phantom 5000D... 5000 watts max but knowing boss it probably puts out 30k rms....and yes, no snow =no sled=//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

I know I'm sounding like a skipping CD, but the TC Sounds LMS Ultra 18 will be the BEST sounding sub for less than $1K (that is currently available). The most linear, low distortion, high excursion sub. Wish I could afford one, its what I would buy in your shoes, obviously. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Everything else in a 15 or 18" sub will sound "sloppy" compared to this....muddy would be a good word.

Loud and big are never as good as clear and accurate while being loud. I've heard some seriously loud systems that sound like total crap and other systems that were just as loud and sounded 10x better. Its all in the equipment and install.

For the small space you have your better off going with a single 15" than an 18. Have a box built right and it'll get just as loud as you think you'll be with an 18. And dump that stupid capacitor you said you have, upgrade your electrical system before you spend more money on your system. The Big 3 is the place to start, buy some Knukonceptz 1/0 wire for cheap and do it right. DC Audio, Sundown, Incriminator Audio, whatever you can find thats within your price range, they're all good brands. And have someone that actually knows what they're doing set the gains on your amp with an O-Scope, chances are thats why you blew your old subs.

Thanks alot everyone im goning back to the drawing boards and starting from scratch....

this time imma do alot more research on wat i buy

once again thanks for all your help
