Help 2002 Chevy Stereo

I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 and i need to know how to get the stereo storage compartment open without messing it up so i can connect it to an amp. And i would also like to know how to connect an amp to my battery and into my interior without drilling a hole in my firewall..........I need help.

i have a 97 chevy , on it the front dash pops off not sure about the new

ones. on the power cable i ran mine through the rubber part on the

streing collum.(cut hole just big enough for the cable to fit.)

It just pops off.

The factory unit just slides out once you push the small tabs on each side.
