Headless system? 4i.1 based

Can I build a system without a head unit using an mp3 player running into the 4i.1 (as a preamp) and then into a 4-channel amp?

Maybe down the road when I find a head unit I like I can add it, and later maybe I can add one of the crossovers like the 2xs

I am dead serious about this. My head unit was stolen recently and I am getting sick of this. I'd rather drive around with a gaping hole in my dash...

Please if you know about these boxes chime in.
