HDTV's Plasma vs DLP.. opinions

i'm limited in what i can get per one of my connections i have. how about this one then:http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/televisions/product.asp?model=50hm66
looks nice , but seems pricey compared to others and its only 720p

That's 720 for HD, I believe that is the second highest you can go for HD. The rest of the specs will most likely look something like below.

1366 x 768 pixel resolution; accepts all major DV signals, including 1080i, 720p, 480p, plus standard 480i

Yea but with true 1080p HD in the future you might as welll just be ready when your spending $3000.. And that 1920x1080 is gonna be quite the dif imo

i'm between the 50" Sony 3LCD i linked and that Toshiba. They both come with good and bad reviews and are both within my price and size range. I think both have a 46" model as well but I'll look at them tomorrow and figure it out. I know i want either a 1080i or 1080p top res.

Buying a TV now is like buying a computer, there will be a better version out in 3-6 months.
true but.. There not as drastic as a computer and last alot longer, computer technology is good for a few years, a high end 1080p tv will still be good 10 yrs from now,, i mean what else could you need, it has HD, HD cable, cable cards, 1080 resolution.. This stuff wont be outdted for a while. and for the most part are used much more, hell if i could hook up my lap top to a 60" tv i dont think i d ever turn the tv off between tv, computer, gaming, movies, sports etc.. I just cant wait to see 360 and ps3 on a nice 60"

i asked around to my bud that works for BB and knows an assload about tv's. he said out of the 2 i was looking at that i linked on here, the sony is 10 times better in customer satisfaction and return rates. i think i'll go with the 42 or 50" Gran Wega 3LCD even though it's a pitiful 1080i //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

720P looks just as good as 1080i, imo.

But 1080 scaled to 720 looks like a$$, so i'd definitely find something that's 1080 native, even if it isn't 1080i capable.

And although i've yet to see a 1080p picture, if it's anything like the difference between 720i and 720p, it's probably MINDBLOWING.

I see a slight edge in 1080p over 1080i but I couldnt justify the costs when better Tv's are goning to be here in the near future. Sharp already has one that has higher resolution the 1080p .
