aright im just getting plain tired of my rl-p's now. justw anna try somethign different really and have the itch to try something new. currently runnign 2 12" rl-p 12's in a 3 or 3.5 cube box tuned to 32 hz

my setup is all front firing port and subs, i have aroudn 4 cube maybe 4.5 i can squeeze out of it. i will most likely be usuing 6" aeros or try for a kerf port if there is enough room but i dont think there will be.

now my question is how will a single 15 soudn compared to my dual 12's? all i have ver ran is 2 12's so i kind of want to try something different.

at first the hdc3 will only have 1500rms too it untill i get a new amp, then i will throw 2000 to 2500 to it a little later on.

any inout would help just trying to get something new in my ride, the rl-p's are kind of dissapointing me in a front firing enclosure not as loud as they used to be, so just need something different

its in an 05 sebring, this is how it is currently set up, goignt o be same way, but with a 15 and the front baffle of the box will have to be angled to fit the 15"

im still in designing stages and tryign to figure everything out, but i would like to know if it is goign to be louder and get lower then the rl-p's. if all the effort is going to result in less sound output then i am probably going to go another route.

also what is a fiar asking price for rl-p's? am i even allowed to ask this if its not a for sale threaD? delete if im gonna get banned ha

I went from 2 15" RPL-P's to 2 15" HDC's and it was a HUGE diff in output. HDC's are getting a lot more power of course.

I liked the RL-P's for a while, but IMO they lacked impact. Bass was clean, but almost dry sounding, just not quite what I was looking for. I listen to mostly rock/metal, so I need a TON of output to get kick drums to have the punch I wanted. The HDC's do that with no problem, and sound very good also. I don't really listen to new rap, but they will get plenty low/loud on that stuff.

I'd tune to 38Hz and consider an AQ2200D amp for the sub or another 1500D and get 2 12" HDC's. That would be a HUGE step up...

2 12's woiuld be really tight...I wouldn't tune any lower than 37 hz...as they break in they will get lower

..and he can fit a 15 if he angles the baffle, its going to be tight tho...I would say 4 cubes tuned to 38-40 hz

yea thats how ihave to do it, i cant have a box shape, need thwe front to be wedged its gonna be tight but after measuring everything seems it will fit, need to mock it all up and see if it will before i go about buyign everything but just tryignt o get some input from everyone to see if this is the route i wanna go

like stated above the rl-p's are kinda dry sounding i guess and not as loud as they were rear firing. but i kind of need a frotn firing setup right now so i figured a single 15 might do better then 2 12's

still trying to figure everythign out but from what im gathering from you guys the hdc315 will be louder then my 2 rl-p's? i know there are a lot of v ariables but im just trying to get a vague idea i can mess around to get it louder but in general is/can a single 15 be louder then 2 12's in the same 4 cft airspace?

yes a 15 could b louder

do you have any box plans? your gonna need atleast 3.5cf net, 4cf would be better. 16inches tall baffle and atleast 64 square inches for port area. which would make your port 14.5hx4.5w

2 of the sd2.5s would be good also. not sure what it would meter tho i gained 3.3db from a single hdc12 to a hdc15

the hdc3 should kill the 12's...esp once you give it more powwwaaaaa
i dunno bout that... go on SSA, and there are tons of people who run the RL-P's and never want to change em... Also lots of those people have tried something else, and find themselves going back to the RL-P's... They are SQ drivers, so if you're looking for louder... i'd say go for the HDC, BUT, you are losing quite a bit of cone area.

i know i have 4 cube possibly 4.5 to work with, im gonna pull out my box tomorow and make some measurments, once i see what i can do i will go from there i just wanted to know if my efforts were gonna even be worth it

im still iffy, i like the way my rl-p's sound but i do want louder, so i dunno how the aq's will sound mussicly as well be loud. im prolly gonna end up doing it once i measure my car tho anyway
