A couple final questions before the build begins.

What is the overall diameter for the HDC315?

-I know the cutout is 14 1/16".

I only have 15 1/2" to work with. Is the going to be alright?

Also the slot port is going to be 4" to a possible 4 1/2" wide. Isn't it true, in some cases(where space isn't an obstacle), that the wider the port the better?

15 1/2" is good

its not how wide the opening of the port is that counts, its the cubic inches pf port area per cubic feet. You want between 12-16 sq in. of port area.

i don't know if your 15.5 in is going to be good enough. most 15s have a 16 in face. you may just want to get the woofer and measure it first before starting your build.

well the surface area inside the port is going to show 655.2in². But its a 6ft³ box so that sounds right. i used winisd to get the port tuning..

You should be fine... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Keep us updated, I wanna see how the box turns out.
oh i will

If you build the box corectly you will love that 15. Is it going in a truck or car?
its going in my crew cab nissan frontier in the back seat on passenger side.

Thank you. I am going to reconsider a couple of things..

Alright. Heres what i am going to do..

You see the lines labeled 3/4".. Thats where the sides were going to be fastened, screws going straight down, but i think that ill put the sides on the outside instead, running screws inward and being conscious of my mounting cutout, so i can keep the full 17".

That sound better to you all?

Edit: The opening for the port is going to be 4in by 17in. So the area, at the opening, is showing 68in.... OK..

Code:
PORT 4.25 X 17 X 19=0.8ft³(72.25in² at opening)
BOX 24.25 X 24.25 X 16.25=5.5ft³
                         -0.8ft³
                         =4.7ft³ X 16=75.2in²
Win

No.. wait. Ok.

Code:
BOX 5.5ft³ so 5.5X16=88in² [88in²]
PORT [17X](4.5X20.5H)=92.25in² [92.25in²]
Right?

you're doing 6cubes net or gross? 4 cubes net, 16^2 of port per cube will work well. And 16" OD for the sub is fine, so you don't have to do 17"
Do i take the port calculation from the net volume or the gross? I have 5.5ft³ gross and about 4.5+ft³ net(after port and sub displacement).
