hey guys ive got an 03 explorer and ive got a audioque 3500d and a tc9/hdc3 18'' in there now and im wanting more of my space back. lol! i had 4 sa-8''s and hoping maybe i could even get a smaller box than that...im thinking maybe a way beefy 10'' or 12'' or maybe 2 10''s max!! this will be for daily and very little to no comps so loud and low is preferd..

yeah my 8''s have a 3.6 gross box...was hoping for a bit small but might just not be possible to go small and get the output im looking for...would say a dc lVl 5 or xl single 12'' in a 1.5 net box tuned to 30-35 with the full 3500 be as loud or close to my current 18'' or my four 8''s??

Problem that you're going to run into is that to get enough port area for that kind of power and tune the box as low as you want to, the 1.5cf box is going to need a port that takes up more than 1.5cf. You're basically wanting to violate Hoffman's iron law that basically states, low, loud or small box, you only get two.

well i figure box could be 42.5''x10.5''x12'' with a 3''x10.5''x42'' port for 31'' port area...that would be for 2 10''s or a single 12''...i mean its still a 3.0cube box but just dont think i can get anything smaller lol which i can deal with that size...or could do a single 10'' box 42.5''x9.5''x7.5'' with a 4'' areo port 26'' long for tuning @ 30.5hz that would be a gross box of only 1.75..sub dis. =.18 and not sure how to calculate aero port displacement but i figure that close....but can a single 10'' dc lVl 4 xl take 3000-3500 daily and get as low and loud as my 18'' with 1250watts??

Running that much power to a single sub daily is a complete waste. You won't use it all and if you were to try, power compression would be so bad (assuming that the sub didn't just go up in smoke) that you would not get nearly that kind of power to the sub anyway. It's your system, do what you want but after a couple hundred watts your marginal increase in output for increasing power will be negligible.

ok helo what would you reccomend? keeping the box footprint as small as possible with the 3500watts? im always just looking for something different...i had my 4 8's for like 3 weeks and my 18'' now but about the same and just want something different.. something way small that people will be like WTF is that...

If it were me, I'd get a more reasonably sized amp. Nothing wrong with trying to get a 10 fairly loud but you just don't need that much power on one daily.

lol i just got it and havnt even hooked it up yet im leaning towards 2 dc sound lab 10'' Level 4 XL's...ya box will be bigger than i was hoping for but i just ordered new alt. and batteries to support 3500 and i really dont want to downgrade that part now

Then you may as well go nuts on the subs as well. 4 10s would suffer from less power compression and make better use of that stupid amount of power.
