I like the look better than the look of the waffle grille, but the last time I bought a set of these (12" for some RF subs) the mounting ring did not work with the sub.

Has anyone successfully used these? By chance, has anyone tried them with an Image Dynamics 10" sub? Regardless of WHAT sub they were used with, did the rattle, vibrate, or shake loose?

Yeah, I had previously used the 10" version and I'm now using the 12"..both versions fit nicely nicely on my Kicker and AA subs. If your sub has a thick rubber gasket(like mine) then a coating of dialectric grease around the outside edge should allow you to slip the grill over it.

That being said, I've modified the new one quite a bit....cut away the mesh(it's too flimsy on anything larger than the 8" version, IMO), drilled holes through frame and attached three bars(made of 1/2" hollow square steel rod) to it with hex-drive machine screws. It looks custom-made and it was pretty easy to do.

My AA Arsenal 12 has quite a bit of excursion so I needed to install spacers(plain old round metal washers..looks industrial and functional) under the metal rods so the surround wouldn't be slapping into them.

I really like the design of those grills but the mesh is the weak part for larger drivers.

I had trouble with those rattling...I had one made that way but with a waffle mesh...and it was of good quality...nice and thick....but I can not locate where to find those anymore...that grill is probally 10 years old....

I hate the look of the clips on waffle grilles...

Any suggestions for a 10" grille that does not look like @$$ in the trunk?

That sucks. I HATE the fact that I forget to order stuff from him. I ordered my speakers, but forgot ALL of the accessories and connectors and all of that nonsense for my big 3, my sub and amp install, etc. It makes me feel stupid to call him up to order 1-2 little things that I forgot last time.

(I don't want anyone to think that I DON'T like dealing with Don!)

It is the bar grille in black- I like the understated look much better then the chrome. I am not a "chrome" kind of guy...
