Has anyone realized this yet...?

Green Day stole the their riff from Brainstew from Boston's 25 or 6 to 4.
To anyone who plays guitar, they're both power chord on 5, 3, 2, 0 on E. This is almost as bad as Ice T's theft, as well as The Beach Boy's... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Has anyone else noticed it?

The only difference is that Boston changes chords, but that's the main riff. Green Day keeps that going on throughout the song, only interrupting it with muted chords.

Yay for even less respect for Green Day.
so what you are saying is it is similar, but not identical?

The intro to Come As You Are by Nirvana is a direct rip off of the Killing Joke song Eighties. As I Lay Dying has a song on their new album called I Never Wanted and the intro is pretty much exactly the same as Change (In The House Of Flies) by the Deftones. Josh Hommes (I think that's his name) of Queens Of The Stone Age got all pissy at Metallica saying they stole riffs from his old band Kyuss.

I think when your main composition is based on power chords there is only so much you can do and there is a good possibility of making something that sounds like another song.

Nothing compares to kid rock using "sad but true" by metallica in that god-awful song "american badass." That song always comes on and I always say "hell yeah, someone got metallica going on the jukebox." and that is always followed shortly with "fvck."
