Has anyone realized this yet...?

Well, there's a difference between using altered chords, chord progressions, and play styles...But to steal the same format and the same beat, while only strumming once per measure rather than 4 times is a completely different ball game.

Chicago plays 4 strums per measure, so it's Power Chord on 5E 4 times, then they switch to power chord on 3E 4 times, etc.

Green Day plays power chord on 5E once per measure, then next measure, Power Chord on 3E.... etc.

It follows the exact format. That's what normal people call plagiarism and theift.

Now STFU with "ALL MUSIK IS TEH SAME" 'cause it's not.

Yeah, they are. I love Boston. An interesting bit of trivia I found out from Rock Band, the lead guitarist wrote Foreplay only after a year of learning how to play the Guitar...

It sounds like a long time... but listen to Foreplay, and think about someone only playing after a year... granted I believe he had a background in music prior... But even still, the musicianship in it, is just amazing.
not what im saying.. idc about chords and shit.. im talking lyrics.. and plagiarism is close to impossible to enforce in music.. name a song that came out in the 21st century and i bet its an old song redone.. besides screamo bullshit and heavy metal of the sorts.. cuz idk wtf they are saying anywho and don't give a rats ***

... are you seriously insinuating all modern poetry, literary, and song lyrics are unoriginal?

REALLY?!

I don't know who's more of an idiot, you or whoever taught you that anti-pop culture nonsense. I honestly hope you have some form of mental disability, so what you just said has some justifiable reason other than you're just ignorant and uneducated.

If you are actually interested in being a mediocre musician AT BEST you would be studying jazz and be more concerned wth your scales and potential future opportunities with musicians that could possibly propel you into a real scene if you proved yourself musically capable.

GO BUST IT AND SHED WOOD.......

like I said.. Most.. and i did not mention poetry or written langauge.. and you still didn't name a song.. and yes most of todays stuff is garbage.. i don't listen to the radio.. I have my ipod.. I slowly fill it up.. few songs make it onto it..

That's what I do most of my day... watch TV and practice my scales.

Every now and then, I get sick of scales so I'll look up a song... how I figured out the relation between Chicago and Green Day, I was on the phone with a friend, and she's like, "Play a song!" So I went to play Brain Stew, since it's easy and I was pinning the phone against my shoulder, I was strumming too much and realized it was 25 or 6 to 4.

My favorite scale is A Minor. I loves me the Blues sound.

and if you want to talk pop culture yes most of it is redone.. minus books.. movies music tv

Only common phrases are "plagiarized"... such as "baby, I love you" (and other variants), "Heart broken love," etc. But, I don't think I've ever heard a Pop song (current or past) that has stolen full phrases from previous songs with out those phrases being a common part of pop culture.

did you just say Common phrase could be copywritten?? is that what i heard?? to be plagiarized they need to be copywritten... umm i will give you an easy one right off the top of my head.. postman by lil wayne.. ya definitely and OLLLDDD song.. almost the entire thing.. only things he changes are.. high pitch voices.. adds curse words and a few raps here and there..

And "Smells Like Teen Spirit" has a riff that is a direct rip-off from Boston's "More than a Feeling," which was confirmed by Kobain himself.

Crap happens more than you think.

Green Day stole the their riff from Brainstew from Boston's 25 or 6 to 4.
To anyone who plays guitar, they're both power chord on 5, 3, 2, 0 on E. This is almost as bad as Ice T's theft, as well as The Beach Boy's... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Has anyone else noticed it?

The only difference is that Boston changes chords, but that's the main riff. Green Day keeps that going on throughout the song, only interrupting it with muted chords.

Yay for even less respect for Green Day.
and i think its chicago not boston
This you retard. They aren't easy to get mixed up. Go kill yourself.
