Has anyone delt with engine conversions?

I have a 1988 Jeep Cherokee, with a 1996 4.0 HO I-6 in it. I picked it up for $700. Not bad considering it has a 5.5" lift, $600 roof rack, and some nice American Racing Chrome rims. It was worth it. Besides that fact it wont start. It turns over, and after I did a oil change, and tune up, it even chugged a little bit and was very close to starting. Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem might be?

Did it run since the different engine was swapped in? Or has it never run?

Check for fuel spark?

Since they swapped engines, it has not ran. And of course it was a n00b who did it for his first time. It has spark, do you think it could be something to do with the injectors or fuel pump? Thanks for moving it too, I forgot about this section.
