Had kinda an odd problem today with system........

bare with me , kinda long.Today driving along on the interstate subs kick off but highs still playing (so obviously sub amp). reset head unit comes back on at low volume kicks out(thinking amp went bye bye or blown sub . reset it again turn it up full volume for like 15 seconds before clipping out again..... But if blown sub or amp why did it play so long this time before going out......... So go into work. Need to go to other store so on way there turn it up plays about 15 seconds and goes out and doesn't come back on. So I am moderately confused at this time. ::scratches head:: go in the back and no protection light. no lights on at all . So I check fuses. two of them are melted. (thinking F*** amp is shot) Then i start to examine the fuse the fuse in the middle is blown but not massive damage like you would normally see in a situation where something is shorting out. Just a little crack. And one of them actually had the "filament"black and melted through the fuse....... What does everybody think it could be. i am pretty sure i figured it out because I tried something. But curious what everybody would think till this point will post the rest in a bit

Nope good guess but 2 ohm on a 1 ohm mono amp

Fuse holder is shit? Loose connection?

Possible crappy connection at the fuseblock or ground cable.

my fuse holder also did this. one end of the fuse was black, but i thought mine was because it heated up and meltd the plastic fuse pos audio pipe fuse holder. all my equipment is fine and did the same as yours, but i was running mine at .5 ohms so im kinnda lost why. one of the local installers told me the fuse was tightn down to much.

Well I meant fuses in amp. But. Here ya go. I go out and put new fuses in it. none of them were tight but two was loose. and one was so loose it about fell out when i let go. bent the tabs on the last one a little to hold it in. I think them being loose was causing it to arc. I am not sure if it is fixed for sure. but played it about 15 mins on the way home and no problems

my ma audio hc4000 had really loose fuse holders, i probly would have but when i got it (flea market 150$) it had different fuses in it. 30a, 25a etc. so i noticed and fixed it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
