gun control?

School shootings are pretty frequently anymore. The issue seems to come up every shooting and every election.
Its hard to comeback to this statement because I don't think it is even in English.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

again, on page 6 or so:
any form of local/municipal militia would not be able to stand up to a government funded/backed attack on citizens
That's funny, a bunch of civilians seem to be giving our best soldiers a run for their money in Iraq right now.

And a "bunch of civilians" did a good job kicking British *** in the revolutionary war.

Do we have any military people in this post? I'm sure they will agree with me when I say that the majority of our soldiers are not going to turn their guns on their own people or drop bombs on their own cities.

You're right, I accidentally added a LY to frequent. If you excuse my typo, it's all perfect english.

Super, than we agree that you do not need civilians with guns to protect you from your government becuase they wont turn on you. Thank you for clearing that up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

School shootings are pretty frequent anymore still makes no sense:confused:

But anyway, I still stand by what I said. If we are talking about school shootings and gun toting in the same context, what do you do about high school shootings.

I agree that the 2nd Amendment is a dated way to defend the ownership of firearms. The 1st Amendment however is not dated, and serves as a much better argument. The right to Life. IE the right to protect your life from those who would try to take it, with a gun.
Does not that same ammendment not also make it clear you dont have the right to take a life? The whole thing seems contridictory to me

What would be your purpose to owning this automatic fire arm. Keep in mind here, im not looking for you to jump down my throat. Im just asking what the purpose is of you owning an automatic fire arm is?

Why does someone need a purpose to own something that they enjoy?

Why is the purpose of you owning a car stereo that isn't OEM?

Because it's a hobby. Guns aren't just for self defense. Target shooting is fun!

As I stated before, I never hid the fact that I brought up hunting, I just dont understand where you guys brought up that I connected that to the second ammendment. I also said before, that I dont think hand guns need to be used hunting and that AUTOMATIC assult rifles need to be used either.
That's fine, there is nothing wrong with having opinions but that doesn't mean other people have to feel the same way.

Those are completely different than a situation that what could arrise in the States.

In the revolutionary war, you had a foreign army, completely unfamiliar with any of the land versus men who were born and raised on the land they were fighting on. Also, the British used traditional warfare tactics while the Americans used more guerilla methods.

In Iraq, it's the same situation, except our military tactics are more "modernized" with bigger explosives. You're a force with ever dwindeling morale, not backed by your homeland at all, in fighting quarters that are easy for ambush, fighting guerilla forces that know the land much better than yourself. Recipe for disaster.

You're right about the last part. It would take a prominate, accepted figure, declining economical conditions, and cleaver use of propaganda to cause anything like what happened elsewhere to happen here, actually inside the states.

Look at World War 2, primary cause of economic depression led masses to follow a leader who promised a better life.

Perfect, you said target shooting. Thats all I was looking for, the reason you want an automatic wepon is target shooting. Now if that is the reason for owning said wepon, was target shooting, could there not be a system designed that would allow the guns to be locking in a controled area at the range with 24 hour security. That way you could have a bunch of people, who like to target shoot with their full automatic wepons, and still have the guns in a controled enviroment.

ps, first amendment says nothing about the right to life.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Your problem is that you automatically associate guns with killing people. That's like associating a car with speeding. Doesn't make sense does it? There are 80-100 million gun owners in the US. Is our country in anarchy? Are there shootouts in the streets everyday?

That's fine, there is nothing wrong with having opinions but that doesn't mean other people have to feel the same way.
And I fully agree on this, I dont want anyone on here to think that I am trying to take away someones opinion. I have no problem with people thinking the way they want, but I do think that people need to somewhat defend their opinions, and generally with more than the statement,"because I can"

Well why not force people with sports cars to leave them garaged at the race track?

Being a former Marine, unfortunately I'm going to have to disagree with this analysis. Most Marines I knew would not hesitate to turn their fire on anyone they were ordered to, regardless of who when or why. Pilots don't ask who or what they are bombing, they just receive coordinates and orders and they push the button.

And as far as civilians kicking our *** in Iraq, that is partially true, but it is because of some really **** inconvenient rules of engagement, among many other complicated things including the small fact that we aren't actually trying to fight them.

Anyway, I still agree with you about gun control //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
