gun control?

That's easy to say when the people of your country have never had to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. That's like a spoiled kid asking why anyone needs a work ethic.
And the second amendment IS NOT ABOUT HUNTING!!!!!

And those hunting rifles your friends use are most likely more powerful than assault rifles. Speaking of "assault rifles", the name of them is just a stupid term made to scare stupid people who don't know any better. They are simply semi-automatic rifles. If they were automatic it would make no difference. You can bump fire a semi-auto rifle just as fast as you can shoot a full auto one, plus firing in full auto mode is much less accurate than in semi-auto. I am also 99% sure a legally owned full auto rifle has never been used in a crime.

And while we are on the topic, type 'Jim Zumbo' into google and see what happened to him recently.
I still dont understand where you guys thought I came up with the idea that the second ammendment is about hunting. All I said is I have no problems with people owning guns to hunt. If you want to twist it from there than thats fine. Also rarly when someone goes on a killing spree are they looking for accuracy. They dont generally want to hit a person, they are looking to hit people so accuracy isnt usually factorying in, its quantity of bullets shot thats important to them.

Adding more gun control is retarded because what was mentioned ad nauseum is that people will get guns anyway. But as was mentioned, I am all for making the penalties for carrying/using a gun illegally super strict. It may not be a detterent, but maybe a combo fo responsible people and strict penalties will reduce the nuts out there who succeed in using a gun.

But the my question is, what do you do in the situation where most of these isolated situations have occured. That is high schools. Should we be arming 14 year olds with guns to protect themselves from Doom players/Marylin Manson fans. I think most of my high school teachers would cause more harm than good with a gun.

Guns are not the root problem in this country. We just have a violent society. Probably one of the most violent societies in the world. This scares me way more than any addition or removal of gun laws.

Although I am all for guns, gun nuts creep me out. The ones whose first thought in the morning is their gun and who has a shed full of artillery in case someone decides to break in. These are the same retards who use atrocities for political fodder when arguing these things. For one I think it is extremely disrespectful to use these atrcities so casually to argue something that has little to nothing to do with it. I actually heard someone today saying the Democrats have the same plans of the nazis because they, like Hitler wanted gun control.

When was the last time that YOU had to defend YOURSELF from a tyrannical goverment. Get off your soap box and use things relevent to the here and now, not something that happend before you were born. Come on now. Blaming or defending the actions of people today based on previous generations is just rediculous.

I am interested to know, why do you feel that fully automatic wepons should be permited to the public?
First of all, they already are permitted to the public. Second, the real question is why shouldn't I be able to have an automatic weapon if I chose to? I'm not a criminal. I've never committed a crime with a gun and I never will in my life.

Even though you don't see a need for me to have it, that is no reason why I shouldn't be able to. There are millions of things that people don't need, but I'm not out there trying to stop people from having them.

Isn't that what this whole arguement started with. We are basing all our arguements on something that has occured like 2 or 3 times evcer in this country.
School shootings are pretty frequently anymore. The issue seems to come up every shooting and every election.

When's the last time you personally had to fear attack from a tyranical government?

Governments have been killing their people since governments have been around. That is not going to chance. Just because the USA isn't like that now doesn't mean it can't happen. I can't see the future and I'm pretty sure you can't. Alot can happen in the next 20 years.

Another thing... you can't blame this on video games and music. I have Doom in my Xbox now and I have Marilyn playing on my computer at the moment. You don't see me killing everyone.

You're the one who brought up hunting and just so you know, people hunt with "assault rifles" and high caliber revolvers all of the time.

And if you think quantity of bullets shot is important, then why does it matter if a gun is full auto or not? They do carry the same size magazines you know...

What would be your purpose to owning this automatic fire arm. Keep in mind here, im not looking for you to jump down my throat. Im just asking what the purpose is of you owning an automatic fire arm is?

again, on page 6 or so:

any form of local/municipal militia would not be able to stand up to a government funded/backed attack on citizens

As I stated before, I never hid the fact that I brought up hunting, I just dont understand where you guys brought up that I connected that to the second ammendment. I also said before, that I dont think hand guns need to be used hunting and that AUTOMATIC assult rifles need to be used either.

I agree that the 2nd Amendment is a dated way to defend the ownership of firearms. The 1st Amendment however is not dated, and serves as a much better argument. The right to Life. IE the right to protect your life from those who would try to take it, with a gun.
