Greatest Running Back of all time

sanders had to run east/west because of his terrible offensive line....emmitt smith had arguably one of the greatest offensive lines ever assembled. you put barry on that dallas team and i cant even imagine the stats he would of put up....

jim brown, priest holmes
what ever happened to priest holmes...i watch football but dont really follow every team. i just know he got hurt, larry johnson stepped in and i havent heard of holmes since.

yeah i think he left for good after his injury he was def. one of the best should have stuck around
eh i dont know i guess if you are rich enough why risk being crippled like jerome bettis and earl campbell.

i know bettis is doing alot better these days than when i played but earl campbell can barely even walk. i remember watching that special on fox once before a steelers game they showed day by day what bettis went through his last season. it was insane. it took him more than an hour just to get out of bed and hobble down the stairs. cowher didnt even make him show up till friday walkthroughs and travel day.

Emmitt Smith does own the all time rushing yards record but I would NEVER put him in the top 5 of all time running backs. In his prime he had the BEST offensive line ever assembled in the history of the league. He had holes you could drive a truck through. It's scary to think of what Barry Sanders would have done on that Dallas team. Just scary.

With that being said, my list of best running backs are:

5. Franco Harris.........I'm a Steelers fan so of course I have to mention him.

4. Eric Dickerson

3. Jim Brown

2. Gale Sayers

1. Barry Sanders....no one will ever match his athletic ability and vision.

QB would have to be Joe Montana. This man had ice water in his veins and NEVER cracked under pressure no matter what the situation.

i seem to remember him getting cracked in '91 by the giants. that was brutal. if eric dickerson had emit's line he would have ran for 2500 yards a season lol. dickerson would either flat outrun you or run you over

Barry Sanders

I thought this was interesting

"Sanders also holds the NFL record for the most carries for negative yardage. According to the SI Book of Football, these numbers totaled 336 Carries for -952 Yards."
