Greatest Running Back of all time

i dont care what anyone says, sanders was by far the best. payton had a phenomenal team to help him... lets not forget the 1800lbs of offensive line that carried Emmit smith not to mention playing 22 seasons, and Barry never won a ring because he was the only player on the Lions roster that should have been considered for the draft, I can't think of any pro bowl teammates he had... can you?
My recollection is that the Bears were far from phenomenal during most of Walter's career.

Kevin Glover, Herman Moore, Robert Porcher, Chris Speilman, Stephen Boyd

Can't recall off the top of my head if guys like Benny Blades and Johnny Morton were pro-bowlers, but they were clearly good players. The Lions were good in the early 90's. In 91 they won 12 games and went to the NFC Championship game, and in 94 they were good and got upset by the Packers.

The Lions did have a good line and whoever said Sanders had to run East to West because of a bad line, is just silly. That was Sanders game. When Bobby Ross forced to go between the tackles he quit.

Barry. All the way.

And he did have another Pro-Bowler, didn't he? Didn't Herman Moore make it? I dunno, he was a good receiver. But either way, Barry was in a class of his own.

Put Barry in Emmit's position, and he'd be pulling 2k yard seasons every year, without fail. Not to take anything away from Emmit, he was good too.

I just mentioned a couple pro bowlers he played with and Herman Moore was one. Until Marvin Harrison came along, Moore had the NFL record for catches in a season.

i seem to remember him getting cracked in '91 by the giants. that was brutal. if eric dickerson had emit's line he would have ran for 2500 yards a season lol. dickerson would either flat outrun you or run you over
Eric Dickerson got owned in an episode of Pros vs Joes

I think you have to look at it in terms of how much the RB contributed to his team's success. Using that criteria, Herschell Walker is clearly the man. Dallas couldn't have been a dynasty in the 90's without him.
