Gotta love dealerships! HA

I can pretty honestly say that I don't care for any of the new bloated cars that are out. I like old school. I like stuff I can tinker on. All that new junk is dependent on the dealer and if GM and others have their way you won't even own the car you pay for due to that very fact.

Meh... no thanks.

My expense free driving comes at a much lower price point. To each his own. Someone has to buy all those fucking cars that are made.
For sure. I just like the ride of new. You can't really duplicate it. I've redone suspension on older cars, the works to try to get that new feeling and its just never the same. Haven't don't it all in a whole shebang, so that could make a difference. I'm waiting on a nice garage to rebuild a car, because I still like my classics. It won't hit the road until everything is new. I don't really care about original. This is going to be my fun car, I'm not trying to sell it. Whatever I can find with a good fame and body I'm going to do. They had a nice fastback down the road from me a while back, but I don't have the garage to work in.

Were working on getting a house with at least 3 acres. Maybe more, the lady and I want to get a horse or two. I also want a big azz garage to work in. Maybe a 6 car steel shed type garage.

I have had my Tahoe now for about 6-8 years. Only major things replaced in that time frame was the water pump, needed a good tune up, and a leaky power steering hose. That's it.
Previous owner had the ****** done and engine rebuilt. That's the time to buy a vehicle. Take care of your car, and it will take care of you.

Things do go wrong yes. Worn parts, bad parts that sometimes fail. They're not meant to last forever.
Tahoes are nice vehicles. Don't get me wrong. I've thought about getting a used one to haul things and to make it into a "sound box." I got access to some pretty big ALT for those and dual or triple alt kits (work makes em). Just don't have the cash ATM and I don't need a haul anything right now either, also the ladies brother has a truck and lives with us.

Wasn't GM penalized for that faulty ignition switch or so>??\
Imagine a simple 5 dollar part everybody there ignored now their under fire for millions.
That is part of the reason why I'm not a GM guy anymore. I'll still get the older trucks for some hauling and stuff like that, no reason to buy new when I'm going to use it like a beater. I take care of my cars, every 5K I get a full synthetic oil change and my tires rotated.

As for the ignition switch issue, that's just a numbers game. There comes a point where buying off the families of the deceased becomes greater than a safety recall. You never seen Fight Club?

How did those hearings go? That's kinda fucked up yo. I also hated GMs integration system in my cruze. Its ALT and BATT went bad within 2 years. I didn't wanna deal with GM anymore so I traded it for whatever I could get the best deal on that wasn't a Chevy, which was my Kia, and I still love the car a year in. It still drives like day 1. I'll be interested to see how it is in another year, any ALT or BATT problems. I'm drawing a lot more power, I also have a much bigger ALT.

EDIT: I did put a ton of miles on the Cruze in the first year, twice as many as this car.

I did explain. It's not about people, it's about dollars. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
It's always about $$.

What's more important to them tho: Making huge profits, fixing a recurring problem or ignoring it.

Either way, someone is gonna lose their job.

The lady that was overseeing that was on federal blast. Not sure how it turned out, but the news was saying she could serve prison time.

I think the CEO got thrown under the bus.

My god people. Let's take responsibility for our actions and stop with the finger pointing.

This could have saved the company millions of dollars.

Like I said, it depends on what will cost more, and what they think they can get away with. Case in point: ignition switch. The 'good' part has a cost like $.15 higher than the one they have recalled. That's a huge savings over the run of millions of vehicles sold with that switch. There were some accidents that occurred that pointed to the switch as the issue. They paid those off until it reached a point where it was cheaper to just replace ALL of the switches, rather keep paying families settlements. They didn't originally see it as being as big an issue as it turned out. They should have spent the $.15 up front instead of people having to die for the recall to happen. It was a bad gamble, but that is basically how it works. Same type deal with all those airbags that explode.
