The major difference is that the type x is superior.

The X is tighter, more SQ oriented. Whereas the R is just loud. I never had an R. I also like my type x over my IDMAX for the record.

Thanks, they don't make the Type-X in 12s anymore, and it looks like they changed things with the new ones. I have a new Type-R. I like it. I haven't heard type-Xs before because they are so hard to come by.
